About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced MR Truck Driver & Excavator/Plant Operator to join our team full-time.
This is not a truck-driving-only position.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining MR truck driving, crane truck operation, excavation and earthworks, plant operation and general site work.
A key part of your role will be carrying out excavation and site preparation for our steel building projects, including operating our excavator and bobcat/skid steer to prepare sites ready for concrete slabs.
You’ll also operate our MR crane truck to transport steel, materials and machinery between our Penrith yard and job sites across Sydney, as well as operate our small tipper for earthworks, material movements and site clean-ups.
We’re looking for someone who is just as comfortable operating an excavator and working on site as they are behind the wheel of a truck.
If you’re looking for a role where you simply drive from A to B all day, this probably isn’t the right position. If you enjoy variety, operating machinery and being hands-on across different aspects of construction, you’ll fit in well with our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out excavation, earthworks and site preparation for steel building and concrete slab projects
- Operate excavators and bobcats/skid steers for site cuts, levelling, trenching, backfilling and general earthworks
- Load spoil and materials and assist with site clean-ups
- Drive our MR crane truck to deliver steel, building materials and machinery to sites across Sydney
- Safely operate the truck-mounted crane to unload, lift and position materials on site
- Drive our small tipper for excavation works, material deliveries and spoil removal
- Load and unload machinery and materials at our Penrith yard and on site
- Assist with general site, yard and factory duties when required
- Carry out basic daily checks and help keep trucks, machinery and equipment well maintained
- Follow all WHS procedures and maintain a safe, professional work environment
What You’ll Need
- Current MR Truck Licence with a good driving record – essential
- White Card – essential
- Experience confidently driving MR trucks
- Experience operating excavators and/or bobcats/skid steers
- Experience carrying out earthworks, excavation or site preparation
- Crane truck/vehicle loading crane experience – highly regarded
- Relevant High Risk Work Licence for crane operation where required – highly regarded
- Experience within construction, civil works, concreting or steel building projects – highly regarded
- Ability to confidently load, unload and work around plant and machinery
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on construction environment
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently when required
- Reliable transport to our Penrith yard
- A positive attitude and willingness to jump in and help the wider team when needed
