Upspec Steel Buildings is an established steel building company based in Penrith, completing projects throughout the Sydney metropolitan area.
Since 2016, we have delivered complete steel building projects for residential, commercial and government clients. Our team manages each project from design and approvals through to earthworks, concrete and construction.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced MR Crane Truck Driver and Plant Operator to join our team in a full-time, permanent position.
The primary focus of this role is driving and operating our MR crane truck. You will transport steel, building materials, machinery and equipment between our Penrith yard and construction sites across Sydney.
You will also safely operate the truck-mounted crane to unload, lift and position materials on site. This requires someone who is confident working around steel, construction materials and plant, rather than simply driving from one location to another.
When crane truck deliveries are not required, you will assist with excavation, earthworks and general plant operation using our excavator, bobcat/skid steer and small tipper.
From time to time, you may also be required to assist our building crews with general construction and site duties. You do not need to be a qualified builder, but you must be physically capable, practical and willing to help the wider team when required.
This role will suit someone who enjoys truck driving but also wants variety and is comfortable working in an active construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive our MR crane truck to deliver steel, construction materials, machinery and equipment throughout Sydney
- Safely operate the truck-mounted crane to unload, lift and position materials on site
- Load and unload steel, machinery and materials at our Penrith yard and on construction sites
- Secure loads correctly and complete all required vehicle and load checks
- Plan and carry out deliveries safely and efficiently
- Drive our small tipper for material deliveries, spoil removal and site clean-ups
- Operate excavators and bobcats/skid steers when excavation or earthworks are required
- Complete site cuts, levelling, trenching, backfilling and general site preparation
- Assist our steel building crews with general construction and site duties from time to time
- Assist with yard, factory and equipment duties when required
- Complete daily checks and help keep trucks, machinery and equipment clean and well maintained
- Follow all WHS procedures and maintain a safe and professional work environment
What You’ll Need
- Current MR truck licence with a good driving record, essential
- White Card, essential
- Proven experience confidently driving MR trucks
- Experience operating a crane truck or vehicle loading crane, highly regarded
- Experience operating excavators and/or bobcats/skid steers
- Ability to safely load, secure, unload and work around plant and machinery
- Physically fit and comfortable completing hands-on site work
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
- Reliable transport to our Penrith yard
- A practical attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed

Experience:
- MR truck driving: 1 year Minimum
- Crane truck operation: preferred

Pay: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour
