About the role:
Aurizon is seeking a talented Senior Asset Analyst to join our Network Asset Management team. In this role, you will apply asset management principles, advanced analytics and business intelligence to support investment decisions across Aurizon's rail infrastructure portfolio. Working with large and complex datasets, you will provide evidence-based recommendations that optimise asset performance, reliability, maintenance and renewal strategies across civil, electrical and signalling assets.
This is a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to critical railway infrastructure and understand how asset condition, performance, risk, reliability and customer demand influence long-term maintenance and capital investment decisions. You'll work closely with Asset Managers, Engineers and Strategy teams to support the management of assets throughout their entire lifecycle
Role Overview
This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional who enjoys translating complex asset and operational data into actionable recommendations that influence asset management strategy and investment planning.
As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you'll support data-driven decision making through advanced reporting, scenario modelling, reliability analysis and long-term asset planning.
You will be responsible for -
- Collaborate across diverse teams to develop and support asset management strategies (including system and corridor strategies) through scenario, lever and trade-off analysis (maintenance, renewal, performance, reliability and access).
- Develop Asset Strategy metrics and targets and required reporting tools and processes, including compliance reporting to track performance against these metrics and targets.
- Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to understand needs and requirements, identify evidence-based improvement opportunities, and provide recommendations.
- Ensure data integrity and monitor reporting quality, including an understanding of data hierarchy, and highlight and implement data quality improvements.
- Provide support to analyse asset reliability and condition to support in the development of Asset Management Plans to meet strategies.
- Provide support to undertake larger pieces of statistical analysis to inform asset management strategy.
- Provide input to development and delivery, including management of change, of Maintenance and Renewal Budget and Strategy and support the development and delivery of the technology roadmap.
About you: as an analytical problem solver who can turn complex asset, maintenance and operational data into meaningful recommendations that support strategic asset management decisions.
You have experience working with large datasets, business intelligence platforms and analytical tools, and enjoy collaborating with technical stakeholders to solve real-world infrastructure challenge
Specific Skills Required:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Finance or a related discipline.
- Experience analysing asset, operational, maintenance or reliability data within infrastructure, utilities, transport, mining or heavy industry environments.
- Advanced capability in Power BI, Tableau, SAP HANA, SQL, DAX and data modelling.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, reliability analysis and performance monitoring.
- Experience developing asset strategies, plans and reporting.
- Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience supporting business cases, investment decisions, maintenance strategies or renewal planning will be highly regarded.
