The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Industrial and Energy team in the Perth Metro Area, reporting to the Engineering Lead. This role provides local engineering support with a mechanical engineering focus to support Industrial & Energy business units with innovation and the management of technical projects, with a particular emphasis on supporting the industrial services business.

What you'll be responsible for
Develop innovative design concepts for equipment, tooling and methods to resolve operational challenges
Produce and interpret technical drawings and design documentation
Prepare equipment datasheets, scopes of work and specifications for bespoke or specialised equipment
Respond to technical queries from vendors
Interpret and apply Australian and other applicable international standards, and regulatory requirements
Provide ad-hoc technical assistance to site-based operations
Actively participate in HAZID and HAZOP activities
Perform or facilitate engineering calculations including but not limited to stress analysis, failure and reliability analysis, pumping system curves, and hydraulic calculations
Manage contractor packages from award to delivery in compliance with Veolia systems and procedures
Adhere to the use of the Change Management System
Evaluate design options and create business cases for technical solutions
Adhere to staged engineering lifecycle processes during process development
Produce and implement documentation for risk assessments, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance
Create and maintain technical reports
Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of or proficiency with PLM systems
Develop relationships with key site-based personnel and our industrial clients
Develop relationships with the national and state-based engineering teams and support functions
Develop and maintain relationships with the WA leadership team
Adhere to all safety policies, plans and procedures
Provide strong leadership in all aspects of Health, Environment and Safety management
Manage implementation and adherence to all safety policies, plans and procedures in area of responsibility
Ensure the safety of all employees in area of responsibility
Ensure all documentation is completed in line with the highest practicable standards with respect to health, safety and the environment
Maintain a high standard of legal, ethical and professional conduct in accordance with established policies and procedures
What you'll need to be successful
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Qualifications recognised by Engineers Australia or working towards recognition
3-5 years Mechanical Engineering experience
Proven record of effective communications with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work within a team
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Ability to produce high-quality outcomes when working to a budget and schedule
Industry experience in heavy industry, mining or oil and gas preferred
Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required
