The Role

As Manager, Operational Risk, you'll partner with leaders across Pepper Money to strengthen risk management practices and support a proactive risk culture. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Operational Risk, you'll provide Line 2 oversight, challenge and guidance to help the business identify, assess and manage operational risks while delivering practical solutions that support strong customer and business outcomes.

Partner with business stakeholders to identify, assess and manage operational risks in line with Pepper Money's risk management framework.
Facilitate and challenge Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), ensuring risks, controls and actions are clearly defined and appropriately managed.
Provide constructive challenge on the design and effectiveness of controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen risk outcomes.
Support the uplift of operational risk capability across the business through training, coaching and practical risk guidance.
Review incidents and issues to ensure they are appropriately recorded, escalated and managed, while supporting meaningful root cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
Partner with project teams to identify and manage risks associated with business change initiatives and strategic projects.
Analyse operational risk data to identify emerging trends, themes and insights that support informed decision-making and governance reporting.
Maintain high-quality risk information within the GRC system, ensuring records are accurate, complete and up to date.

About you

You're a risk professional who enjoys partnering with the business to solve problems, challenge thinking and drive better risk outcomes. You combine strong analytical skills with a collaborative approach, allowing you to build trusted relationships while helping stakeholders confidently manage risk in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Bring experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance or a related risk discipline within financial services.
Have a strong understanding of risk management principles and the practical application of operational risk frameworks.
Demonstrate experience facilitating risk and control assessments and partnering with stakeholders to improve risk outcomes.
Possess strong incident and issue management experience, including root cause analysis and remediation oversight.
Have experience working with GRC systems and maintaining risk, control and action records.
Use excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence stakeholders and present complex concepts in a simple, practical way.
Apply strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify trends, assess impacts and recommend effective solutions.
Build trusted relationships, work collaboratively across teams and bring a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to risk management.
