Full Job Description

NSW Ambulance is seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Specialist to join our Industrial Relations Unit within People and Culture.

Whether your background is in industrial relations, employment law, union advocacy, employer representation, workplace consulting or employee relations, we would like to hear from you.

About the opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of complex and high-profile industrial relations matters, influencing workforce strategy and supporting the delivery of critical healthcare services across New South Wales.
Reporting to the Director Industrial Relations, you will provide expert industrial relations advice, advocacy and strategic support across NSW Ambulance. You will work closely with senior executives, managers, unions, professional associations, and government stakeholders to manage complex workplace matters and contribute to key organisational initiatives.
This role offers exposure to significant industrial issues within a large and dynamic workforce, providing opportunities to influence outcomes at both operational and strategic levels.

About you

You are a confident and commercially astute industrial relations professional with strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills. You thrive in complex environments and are comfortable managing sensitive matters involving multiple stakeholders.

To be successful, you will bring:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Employment Relations or a related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in industrial relations, employment law or workplace relations within a complex organisation.
Experience working within a union, employer association, government agency, health sector, regulatory environment or legal practice is highly regarded.
Strong knowledge of industrial relations legislation, awards, agreements and dispute resolution processes.
Experience appearing before, instructing in, or supporting matters before industrial tribunals or commissions.
Exceptional written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management capabilities.
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

No NSW Ambulance accommodation is provided.
Employees currently undertaking an Extended Care Paramedic or Intensive Care Paramedic consolidation periods are eligible to apply however will need to complete all training and return of service obligations before accepting any relief/acting opportunities.
Employees currently undertaking a Special Operations Team (SOT) consolidation period are not eligible to apply for positions other than SOT positions. This includes positions offered via merit selection, transfer lists or later transfer mechanism, expressions of interest or secondments.
