Parade College is a member of the national body of Catholic schools known as Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). The College aims to help young people grow into well-rounded individuals who will make a meaningful contribution to society. Parade College is the oldest Edmund Rice School in Australia, dating back to 1871, and has a proud history of excellence in the education and pastoral care. Parade offers a multitude of curriculum options for students, whatever their interest may be; from academic, sporting, music, visual arts and trade options.
The College is pleased to announce, our VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) program at Parade College became co-educational in 2025. The College welcomes full-time female student enrolments for the first time in our long history, into Year 11 in 2025. Starting in Term 1 2025, our VCE Vocational Major program, based at our Preston campus, has expanded our student offerings by introducing a new Tertiary Pathways Program. The Tertiary Pathways Program includes a second stream of our highly successful Sport Academy, along with a new Business Academy. Both academies provide a bespoke educational opportunity that allow students to gain direct entry into a number of undergraduate tertiary courses at La Trobe University upon completion of the two-year course.

The Position
The Learning Area Leader is the lead educational authority within their discipline, responsible for driving excellence in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and student outcomes across Years 7–12. The role requires strategic leadership, initiative and professional influence, fostering a high-performing team culture where teachers collaborate, innovate and continuously improve practice.
Learning Area Leaders are expected to actively shape their learning area, ensuring alignment with the College vision, Victorian Curriculum 2.0, VCE Study Designs and VCE Vocational Major requirements, and the EREA Touchstone of a Liberating Education.

Specific to the Learning Area Leader - Science:
The role has overall responsibility for the leadership of the Science Faculty (including Food Studies) ensuring exemplary teaching standards and learning outcomes for our students as they come to know the power of science and technologies and their interconnectivity in our world. The Learning Leader oversees the team of teachers and the Science Laboratory and Food Studies Technicians who contribute to a rich and diverse curriculum within their faculty, and has overall responsibility for the development and review of all curriculum documentation that further support the aims of the school and empowerment of our students as dynamic, curious and intelligent individuals.

The successful candidate for this position will commence 27 January 2027. The leadership appointment is for a three year term, with an ongoing teaching position associated with this appointment. This position attracts a generous Position of Leadership Allowance and time allowance per cycle.
