Overseas Glass Agencies Pty Ltd (OGA) is a leading Australian agency representing globally recognised machinery manufacturers. OGA specialises in advanced machinery solutions covering all areas of architectural flat glass processing, servicing glass processors throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Due to continued growth, OGA is seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician (Field Service & Installation) to join our technical services team.
The Role:
The Mechanical Engineering Technician (Field Service & Installation) is responsible for the onsite installation, commissioning, servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and testing of advanced flat glass processing machinery. The role involves extensive customer interaction, autonomous work, travel across Australia and New Zealand and collaboration with international manufacturers’ technical specialists and engineers.
Skills Requirements:
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment

- High level technical support & customer service focus with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational, analytical, mechanical, and problem‑solving abilities
- Advanced computer literacy, including MS Office applications and Autodesk AutoCAD
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Italian
- Relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience suitable to the flat glass machinery sector
- 3+ years’ experience as a Field Service Technician within the flat glass machinery industry
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, arrange, and schedule service visits directly with customers, including travel and accommodation arrangement.
- Identify technical improvement opportunities
- Perform onsite installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and testing of flat glass processing machinery, including but not limited to:
- Double glazing systems
- CNC processing equipment
- Laminated glass cutting lines
- Tempering furnaces
- Edging, drilling, and milling machinery
- Glass lamination systems and washing lines
- Provide “on‑demand” technical phone support to customers while onsite or at the OGA office, including some after‑hours assistance
- Liaise with international manufacturers’ technical specialists and engineers for troubleshooting and fault resolution, including after‑hours communication due to time zone differences
- Prepare detailed written service reports for customers and internal invoicing, clearly outlining travel, labour, spare parts, completed works, and recommendations for future service, tooling, or parts requirements
- Deliver training to customers, machine operators, and other service technicians as required
- Comply fully with all site‑specific and company OH&S policies and procedures
- Travel extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand, and internationally when required, including attendance at manufacturer training programs at European facilities
- Support mechanical engineers & specialists to optimise machinery
- Collect and analyse test and performance data
- Prepare technical diagrams, reports and system documentation
- Select appropriate tools, materials and equipment
- Ensure machinery complies with engineering specifications and standards
