The opportunity

The Coordinator Rates plays a critical leadership role within the Finance team, overseeing the collection of council rates and charges - representing over 80% of Council’s income. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this permanent full-time position is based at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre and is key to ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and excellent service delivery to the community.

What you’ll do

Lead the end-to-end management of rates and revenue collection
Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
Oversee billing, debt recovery, and financial reporting processes
Drive continuous improvement in systems and customer service delivery
Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the rates team

What you need to succeed

Strong experience in finance, accounting or revenue management
Proven leadership experience managing teams in a complex environment
Sound knowledge of local government rating processes (highly regarded)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
