The AWS Region Services team combines AWS global cloud leadership with Australian security expertise to deliver highly secure, scalable environments for sensitive workloads. The Engineering organisation within Region Services is structured across core capability pillars: Compute & Machine Learning, Security Identity & Compliance, Storage & Databases, and a growing capability domain. Key job responsibilities
The Systems Engineer contributes to the design, implementation, and automation of complex Windows infrastructure solutions across multiple environments. This role supports the infrastructure automation, system architecture, and Windows environment management, focusing on developing automated solutions for managing large server fleet.

Provide technical support for Windows Server infrastructure systems and Active Directory services
Perform system maintenance, updates, and patch management for Windows environments
Develop and implement automation solutions for routine support processes using PowerShell and other scripting tools
Maintain accurate documentation of all support activities, and contribute to knowledge base and runbook development
Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 system availability

Region Services provides the highest caliber Operational Solutions and Cleared Support for services within our Regions. We provide 'hands on keyboard' support to our service teams by deploying changes into these isolated regions, monitoring the results, and reporting any issues that are observed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical degree or related experience
Knowledge of networking fundamentals
Experience with a scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby or similar
1+ years of site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments experience
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools including Continuous Integration / Deployment, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes, Chef etc.
Experience in networking and troubleshooting
2+ years of site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration experience
