Job Description
What you’ll be doing
Payroll sits at the heart of everything we do. When our 3,800-plus team members are paid correctly and on time, it sends a clear message: we value the people behind the work. As our Senior Payroll Officer, you'll play a leading role in making that happen.
Based at our Rockdale office and reporting to the Payroll Manager, this is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced payroll professional ready to take ownership, mentor others and drive continuous improvement across a large, complex, multi-award payroll function. You'll bring deep technical knowledge, a collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to accuracy and compliance — and you'll be trusted to lead by example every day.
Taking ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-award workforce across multiple states
Interpreting and applying Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Fair Work legislation with confidence and accuracy
Acting as a subject matter expert supporting and mentoring colleagues and answering complex payroll queries
Managing and reconciling superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax and other statutory obligations
Preparing month-end, quarter-end and year-end payroll reporting and reconciliations
Leading or contributing to payroll audits, compliance reviews and system improvement projects
Identifying process gaps and proactively recommending and implementing improvements
Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders including HR, Finance and Operations
Supporting the Payroll Manager with projects, reporting and team coverage as required
What we are looking for
We're looking for a confident, experienced payroll professional who's ready to lead. If you have strong foundations and the drive to grow, we'll back you.
Minimum 5 years' end-to-end payroll experience, including in a high-volume or complex multi-award environment
Strong knowledge of Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Fair Work compliance
Experience in facilities services, cleaning, security or hospitality highly regarded
Proven ability to mentor or guide others and act as a go-to resource for payroll queries
Experience with payroll reconciliations, statutory reporting and year-end processes
Proficiency with payroll systems
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
Excellent attention to detail, with a structured and methodical approach to complex problem-solving
Strong communication skills, you can explain payroll matters clearly to people at all levels
A collaborative, team-oriented approach and a genuine commitment to quality and compliance
