Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service

VPS Grade Cog2B: $85,787 - $98,651 plus superannuation.

About the Business Unit:

HM Prison Barwon is a maximum-security prison located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne and is part of the Barwon Southwest Regional structure. It is Victoria's major maximum-security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The prison officially opened in January 1990 and currently houses up to 416 men in custody, including high security, long term management, protection (including specialist protection), general mainstream (maximum security) and medium security prisoners.

About the Role:

Senior Prison Officers take a lead role within custodial teams, coaching, mentoring, and supporting prison officers. A senior prison officers' role encompasses a range of teamwork, case management, custodial and security responsibilities. Senior Prison Officers can be responsible for the day-to-day management of prison accommodation and/or security areas/posts. The Senior Prison Officer must have the ability to manage the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers and the case management of more complex or difficult offenders.

Some of your duties will include:

- ; Encompasses a range of teamwork, case management, custodial and security responsibilities.
- ; Leads, coaches, mentors, develops, and supports prison officers.
- ; Responsible for the day-to-day management of prison officers.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a correctional environment.
Commitment to working with staff, prisoners, and other service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of Justice approach to reducing re-offending.
Experience and skill in areas relevant to Correctional Delivery or statutory environment, management of staff and offender case management.
