The Opportunity

Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice-President, the Executive Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Vice-President (Health), leads a Faculty of considerable scale and complexity, providing inspiring leadership, to advance educational excellence and elevate global research performance. The role plays a pivotal part in strengthening Monash’s positioning and global leadership in innovation, translation and impact. As a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Committee, it contributes to shaping the broader strategic trajectory of the University.

A key focus of the position will be championing international expansion, embracing emerging frontiers and identifying strategic opportunities through commercialisation, philanthropy and large-scale engagement with the biotechnology and venture capital sectors.

With a distinguished record of accomplishment across large, complex faculties or portfolios within world-class, research-intensive universities — and a reputation for excellence in research, teaching and academic governance — you offer the intellectual authority, judgement and credibility required to lead this pre-eminent Australian and internationally recognised health faculty.

A collaborative and collegiate executive, you excel at building trusted, impactful partnerships across government, industry, alumni, philanthropic and business communities. You navigate complex environments — including clinical settings — with confidence, deepening strategic partnerships with major health services and advancing a shared vision for world-class translational research and clinical excellence.

An exceptional communicator and influencer, you combine strategic and operational acumen with the capability to steward large budgets, attract significant funding, diversify revenue and secure long-term sustainability.

You bring sophisticated insight into the global education, clinical and research landscape, supported by influential networks across leading universities, health systems and research institutes worldwide. With a global mindset, geopolitical awareness and superb judgement across complex regulatory environments, you advance the Faculty’s strategic direction while contributing to whole-of-university priorities and elevating Monash’s national and international impact in health.
