Summary of Role
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for:
Performing visual, chemical and physical tests in a laboratory/manufacturing environment on products made by SDI Ltd.
Performing quality inspection tasks
Contributing towards SDI Strategic Priorities.
Conducting work in a safe manner and demonstrating a strong commitment to SDI’s values of passion, accountability, respect, teamwork and innovation.
Specific Responsibilites
Supports validation activities - testing and inspecting of validation batches as required.
Supports the validation team with reporting and analysis of validation results.
Supports test methods validation.
Approves incoming materials by confirming required specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurements tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor/lead.
Approves finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests.
Returns products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work.
Manages, records and stores test data.
Assists with the populating of Certificate of Analysis.
Facilitates calibration and Performance Testing of equipment as required.
Handles, processes and support investigation of customer complaints, non-conformances and CAPAs.
Testing using human teeth may be required, hence vaccination against Hepatitis B would be essential.
Must have the ability to distinguish between colours.

Job Environment
The position is currently located at Bayswater, Melbourne, Victoria, with occasional travel to Montrose required. The position may relocate to Montrose within 1-2 years.
Working hours: 10-day fortnight, plus overtime as required

Bachelor's Degree
Essential Experience
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Applied Science in Chemistry or Biotechnology desirable
Minimum 2 years experience with working in a Chemistry lab environment is desirable
Understanding of GMP & GPD guidelines
