About the role
Relationships Australia NT is seeking an experienced and compassionate Counsellor/Case Worker to join our Redress Support Services team. This in a newly funded additional role.
Working within our National Redress Scheme Support Service program, you'll provide trauma-informed counselling, case management and advocacy that empowers people who have experienced institutional childhood sexual abuse to access the National Redress Scheme.
What you will be doing
In the role of Counsellor/Case Worker, you will:
- Deliver high-quality trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic casework.
- Support clients through every stage of the National Redress Scheme application process.
- Advocate on behalf of clients and liaise with legal services, statutory bodies and community organisations.
- Provide practical and emotional support to people affected by institutional childhood sexual abuse, out-of-home care and forced adoption practices.
- Facilitate community education sessions and promote awareness of the Redress Scheme throughout the Northern Territory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partner organisations.
- Participate in outreach services to rural, regional and remote communities.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to reporting and funding requirements.
- Participate in professional supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure best practice.
What you will bring
The successful candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or another relevant discipline.
- Experience providing counselling and case management to people experiencing complex trauma.
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and an ability to deliver culturally responsive services.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team.
- Confidence facilitating community education and information sessions.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Northern Territory.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the National Redress Scheme and the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
- Experience representing an organisation through networks, forums and community engagement activities.
Requirements
- A satisfactory Northern Territory working with children check.
- A satisfactory national criminal history check.
- Possession of a current NT Driver's License.
- A commitment to our Safeguarding Children Practice and Behaviour Guidelines.
