About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with individuals who have complex behaviours and high-level behavioural issues. You will be providing personalised care and support to enhance their quality of life. You will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals you support. We focus on providing a human rights-based approach to a person centred care approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals with complex behaviours in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and daily activities, including meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks.
- Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviours in a compassionate, calm, and effective manner.
- Monitor and document the progress of individuals, noting any significant changes in their behaviour or needs.
- Promote social inclusion and engagement in community activities, fostering a positive and empowering environment.
- Work closely with families, healthcare providers, and other professionals to ensure the holistic care of individuals.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including reporting any incidents, accidents, or concerns.
About You
As an experienced Disability Support Worker, you will bring with you a wonderful attitude and approach that is participant focused. With the participant's needs front and centre, you will have:
- Proven experience in providing direct support to complex needs clients who require a high level of care, behaviour management and physical assistance to complete daily activities
- Minimum 6-12 months experience working with complex needs clients is required
- Practical knowledge working with individuals withbehaviours of concernas well as experience across both physical and mental disabilities.
- Experience with both physical and mental disabilities is required
- Basic administrative tasks - report in app daily progress notes and complete comprehensive handovers at the end of each shift.
- Ability to confidently report to management in case of any incidents or issues.
- The available role requires the ability to perform sleepover shifts as part of the regular work schedule.
Mandatory Documents:
- Full NT Driver's Licence, and own means of transport.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- National Police Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Full availability including weekends, sleepovers and active nights. (Cleaner duties only to take place throughout office hours)
Not essential however highly regarded:
- A relevant qualification such as Certificate or Degree in any field relevant to Community Services, Aged + Disability Care or Individual Support.
- P3 or MAYBO training
