Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our Maintenance team. In this role, you will lead, motivate and coordinate a mobile maintenance team, planning and overseeing daily and weekly maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant upkeep of mobile equipment. You will be accountable for driving safety standards through daily safety reviews, ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong mechanical maintenance background, proven leadership capability, and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a high-performing team
As part of our team, you will:

Lead the safe execution of scheduled and unplanned mobile maintenance activities, providing clear direction to maintenance personnel to achieve safety, quality and turnaround targets.

Ensure individual regulatory competency and ongoing compliance, including adherence to site safety standards, SOPs and maintenance procedures.

Manage work prioritisation, break-in work, rescheduling and resource allocation to ensure alignment with the agreed maintenance plan.

Oversee servicing, maintenance and repair of plant and mobile equipment, conducting safety and technical inspections to ensure equipment integrity.

Manage workshop operations, including tooling standards, parts requisitioning, disposal, reclaim and reuse processes, and general workshop safety.

Conduct regular workshop inspections, safety meetings and incident investigations, driving proactive risk reduction and continuous improvement.

Maintain discipline in work management systems through review of service records, backlog, temporary repairs, master data and compliance checks.

Support workforce capability by providing on-the-job training, technical guidance and mentoring to tradespersons and apprentices, including use of test equipment and procedures
Prerequisites for your success in this role
-
Trade qualified with significant post-trade experience.
-
Supervisory experience in a similar role.

Underground experience.

Exposure to industry maintenance planning techniques and computerized maintenance systems.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

High level of self-motivation and the ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.

Strong problem solving abilities and a commitment to safety and environmental practices.

Current Australian manual driver’s licence
