Annual Salary Range: $133,348 - $146,945 plus superannuation

About this role
The Independent Review Office (IRO) is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior WHS Advisor to lead and coordinate the delivery of several critical workplace health and safety initiatives during a significant period of organisational focus on employee wellbeing, safety and risk management.
Working closely with leaders, employees, Health and Safety Representatives and key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in implementing IRO's workplace health and safety priorities. You will drive the delivery of the organisation's psychosocial action plan, coordinate workplace safety assessments, support injury prevention and management activities, and lead recover at work assessments.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, sound WHS expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with employees and leaders to create a safe, healthy and supportive workplace.

The Independent Review Office (IRO) is an independent statutory body in NSW that helps injured workers and motor vehicle accident claimants resolve disputes with insurers and provides legal funding to support claimants through the claims process.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will:

Lead and coordinate the delivery of key workplace health and safety initiatives across the organisation.

Drive implementation of IRO's psychosocial hazards and wellbeing action plan, ensuring effective engagement with employees and leaders.

Conduct and coordinate workplace safety assessments, identifying risks and supporting effective mitigation strategies.

Manage and coordinate recover at work assessments and related workplace adjustments to support positive employee outcomes.

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).

Provide practical, solutions-focused advice to managers and employees on WHS, injury management and risk management matters.

Analyse WHS performance data, identify trends and develop recommendations to improve workplace health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.

Work closely with Health and Safety Representatives, committees and stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and compliance with legislative requirements.

Develop and deliver WHS education, communication and awareness initiatives that build capability and strengthen accountability across the organisation.

Build strong relationships across the business to ensure WHS initiatives are aligned with organisational priorities and effectively embedded into day-to-day operations.
What we’re looking for
You will bring:

Demonstrated experience delivering workplace health and safety programs and initiatives in a complex organisational environment.

Strong knowledge of NSW Work Health and Safety legislation, psychosocial risk management, injury management and workplace wellbeing practices.

Experience conducting risk assessments, workplace safety reviews and developing practical risk mitigation strategies.

Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels and build trusted relationships with employees and leaders.

Experience supporting recover at work programs and workplace adjustments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data and insights into practical actions.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex WHS concepts in a practical and engaging way.
