Mobile Service Technician / Automotive Mechanic
Help Power the Performance of Caterpillar Equipment
At William Adams, we're proud to represent Caterpillar, one of the world's most recognised and trusted names in heavy equipment. For 100 years, we've supported customers across Victoria and Tasmania, helping keep critical industries moving through reliable equipment, expert service and strong partnerships.
We're looking for a Mobile Service Technician to join our Metro Field Service team, based from either our Clayton or Laverton branch.
This opportunity is ideal for qualified Automotive Mechanics, Motor Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics and Automotive Technicians who want to take their skills into Caterpillar equipment and build a career in the heavy equipment industry.
If you enjoy working independently, building customer relationships and spending your days in the field rather than a workshop, this could be the perfect next step in your mechanical career.
About the Role
This is more than a preventative maintenance role. You'll build your capability on Caterpillar equipment while helping customers maximise machine performance, minimise downtime and identify potential issues early.
Working across a range of Caterpillar equipment, you'll enjoy variety and autonomy while supporting customers across different sites.
You'll use a fully equipped William Adams service vehicle during working hours. The vehicle is depot-based and is not available for private use or to take home.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing high-quality preventative maintenance servicing, inspections and minor repairs on customer equipment
- Conducting routine machine health checks and identifying potential issues early
- Completing service documentation accurately, including service reports, Cat Inspect forms and timesheets
- Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong on-site relationships
- Supporting customers to maximise equipment uptime and productivity
- Working safely and professionally while representing the William Adams brand

- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A self-motivated, reliable and team-oriented approach
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
