Ember Advisors is an Australian consulting firm specialising in data science, AI, analytics, and strategy for public and social sector clients. We help government agencies and mission-driven organisations harness the data they hold to make evidence-based decisions across health, education, social services, and regulation. Ember brings together a unique combination of advanced data analytics and management consulting, applied in the context of the public sector. Our fast-growing team of 50 consultants includes strategists, data scientists, engineers, mathematicians, actuaries, economists and public policy experts. Together they help clients tackle some of the most complex challenges facing the public and social sectors, providing insights to transform public policy and social programs that improve lives.

About the role

As a Senior Consultant or Engagement Manager in our consulting team, you'll help government and social sector clients make better decisions through evidence, analytics and strategic advice. You'll work across a diverse range of projects, leading problem-solving, working closely with clients, shaping and overseeing analytical approaches, and translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights for your clients.

Depending on your experience and seniority, you'll have the opportunity to lead project workstreams or entire engagements, manage stakeholder relationships, mentor junior team members, and contribute to projects that influence public policy, programs and services across Australia.

Requirements

Our ideal candidates are curious, accountable, and motivated by impact. You'll demonstrate structured problem-solving, strong analytical thinking, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work closely with clients and guide junior team members to deliver high-impact solutions for government and social impact clients. Ideally you bring to the role:

3-7 years of experience in consulting, data science or statistical analysis.
Strong problem-solving, synthesis and communication skills.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. actuarial studies, data science, maths, commerce, public policy, computer science, engineering, economics and/or finance).
Demonstrated interest in public sector challenges.
Experience working with data analysis techniques (Excel, Python, R, modelling, visualisation).
Adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
