Location: Martin Place, Sydney CBD
Employment Type: Full-time, Onsite (5 days/week)
Salary: AUD $85,000 – $95,000 plus superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our growing team at Modoras Accounting Sydney. In this role, you will provide accounting, taxation, compliance, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of business clients. You will prepare financial statements and tax returns, support budgeting and cash flow forecasting, analyse financial performance, and assist clients in meeting their regulatory obligations. Working closely with senior accountants and clients, you will contribute to business advisory engagements while continuing to develop your technical expertise and professional skills.

Key responsibilities:

Prepare financial statements, management reports and income tax returns for a diverse client portfolio.
Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax and FBT returns in compliance with statutory requirements.
Analyse financial information and business performance to support client decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.
Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reports for clients.
Provide accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse range of clients.
Maintain accounting systems, financial records and internal controls.
Liaise with clients, auditors and government authorities regarding accounting and taxation matters.
Support senior accountants with compliance, advisory and strategic projects.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service delivery.

Qualifications and Experiences:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or related field.
CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying towards completion.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role.
Strong tax, GST, and compliance accounting knowledge.
Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, and Microsoft Office.
Able to prepare individual tax returns and BAS with minimal supervision.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Professional, ethical, and client-focused approach.

Additional Information

This role is based in Martin Place, NSW, with required on-site attendance at the office and client locations
This is a full-time position requiring 38 hours per week, with additional reasonable hours during peak periods
The position reports to the Tax & Accounting Manager and supports engagement delivery across multiple clients
Salary is aligned with market rates and commensurate with experience
