NSW - Chatswood
Service Stream's Transport Division is investing in our work-winning capability, and we're looking for a commercially driven individual commercial workstream on major road maintenance and infrastructure tenders across Australia.
Join a growing ASX-listed leader as our Commercial & Pricing Lead, in our Strategy & Growth team supporting our Transport division. You will strengthen pre-contract commercial and pricing capability, operating as a commercial and estimating specialist embedded within the bid team. If you thrive on the dynamic energy of bid commercials and are eager to see your strategy carried through to mobilisation, this opportunity is perfect for you. Whilst we would prefer this role to be based out of Sydney, we are open to other locations including Melbourne (VIC) and Fortitude Valley (QLD).
About the role
You will support the broader pre-contracts function governed by Strategy & Growth, which is accountable for producing competitive, compelling and commercially sound bids. You will work on major road maintenance and infrastructure tenders across Australia – shaping pricing, managing risk, working alongside legal and estimating, and helping us turn complex bids into contracts that we can deliver on. When not actively supporting bid activities, you will have the opportunity to review existing contracts and partner with operational teams to identify and implement opportunities for commercial optimisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Pricing Strategy and Bid Commercial Inputs - Developing and implementing competitive, commercially robust pricing strategies by developing, reviewing and challenging cost models, pricing structures and margin scenarios to support bid success and achieve target commercial outcomes.
Estimating Integration - Partnering with Estimators to validate scope, assumptions and methodologies, ensuring accurate, commercially sound pricing that aligns technical solutions and delivery models with competitive bid outcomes.
Risk and Opportunity Modelling - Supporting bid risk and opportunity assessments by quantifying commercial impacts, developing risk-adjusted pricing scenarios, and ensuring key risk positions are accurately reflected in pricing and governance decisions.
Contract and Legal Commercialisation - Providing commercial and financial analysis of contract terms, risks and pricing positions, supporting contract negotiations and ensuring alignment with bid strategy, win probability and margin objectives.
Supply Chain and Market Testing - Supporting the development of competitive supply chain strategies by engaging subcontractors and suppliers, validating market pricing, negotiating key inputs, and ensuring accurate integration into bid pricing and submissions.
Bid Integration and Quality - Collaborating with bid and technical teams to embed commercial value into bid solutions, ensure alignment across bid responses, and enhancing bid competitiveness through robust governance and review processes.
Contract Mobilisation and Handover - Supporting the successful transition from bid to delivery by documenting key pricing assumptions, risks and commercial strategies, enabling effective project handover and continuous improvement of future bid processes.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have a background in quantity surveying, estimating, commercial management or bid pricing within infrastructure, transport, roads or related sectors. You will thrive in the bid environment and know how to turn contractual complexity into commercial advantage.
You may also have:
Demonstrated ability to review and challenge cost estimates, production rates, quantities and commercial assumptions.
Ability or prior experience in developing commercial win strategies for O&M bids
Experience supporting tender submissions, pricing reviews, bid governance or commercial approvals.
Strong understanding of risk allocation, contract terms, subcontractor pricing and margin management.
Ability to work in a deadline-driven bid environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline would be highly desirable
A current driver's licence.
