About the Role
Reporting to the Light Vehicle Supervisor, you will assist with the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Greatland light vehicles and ancillary equipment fleet including ancillary plant refuelling and tyre maintenance management. This role plays a key part in workplace safety, reliability, and operational productivity.
Please note: This role is full time on an 8/6 Roster- FIFO from Perth
As a Light Vehicle Mechanical Trade Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Assist technicians with the maintenance of equipment in a reliable and cost-effective manner
- Carry out refuelling to site support equipment in line with site environmental policies
- Carry out tyre maintenance and management for the light vehicle fleet (LV Tyre Fitting Role)• Ensure compliance with safety, environment and mining statutory requirements
- Managed Major Hazards in line with Greatland standards. All high-risk work involving major hazards are done under an appropriate Job Safety and Environment Analysis (JSEA) or Safe Work Procedure (SWP).
- Carry out Pre-start inspections of equipment and work areas.
- Safe work procedures are maintained and implemented.
- Keep the Light Vehicle workshop and laydown yard organised and a high standard of housekeeping.
About You
We’re looking for a hands-on and dependable Light Vehicle Mechanical Trade Assistant with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality maintenance. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a mining environment, assisting with vehicle servicing, tyre management, and refuelling site support equipment. Attention to detail, a proactive approach, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key to success in this role.
In addition to these attributes, the ideal candidate must have:
Team-focused with a proactive, safety-first approach
Strong communicator who builds positive working relationships
Committed to following company policies, procedures, and values
C and HR drivers licence essential (Restricted HR acceptable)
Mechanical aptitude or previous Trade Assistant experience
High risk licence / forklift ticket
Light vehicle and on-highway tyre changing experience (Desirable)
Cert II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology (Desirable)
Service truck or in-pit refuelling experience (Desirable)
Basic computer skills
