What you’ll do:
As a Mechanical Specialist at GLNG, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our Curtis Island facilities. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, you will provide specialist mechanical expertise, ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with Santos standards. This role offers the opportunity to influence maintenance improvements, support team capability, and provide leadership during shutdowns and planned campaigns.
This is a 7 on / 7 off day shift role. Nightshift expectations during outages & shutdowns.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provide specialist mechanical expertise and technical leadership to resolve complex maintenance issues, ensuring effective decision-making and risk management.

Execute and oversee mechanical maintenance activities including flange management, precision alignment, mechanical seals, bearings, rotating equipment and associated systems.

Apply extensive knowledge of rotating equipment, gas turbines, compressors and fin fan maintenance to improve asset reliability and performance.

Lead maintenance campaigns and preventative maintenance activities, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality execution.

Provide technical feedback to Engineering to support the optimisation of Reliability Maintenance Programs (RMP) and Integrity Maintenance Programs (IMP).

Maintain compliance with Santos Management System (SMS), safety requirements, critical risk controls, permits, isolations and maintenance standards.

Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance maintenance practices, reduce costs and improve equipment reliability.
Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and contractor teams while mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge to build team capability.

What you’ll bring:
This role requires a highly capable Mechanical Specialist with demonstrated experience delivering maintenance outcomes in complex operational environments. You will have a strong mechanical trade background, sound technical judgement and a commitment to maintaining safe, reliable and efficient plant performance. Your ability to collaborate with teams, solve complex problems and continuously improve maintenance practices will be highly valued. To be successful, you will bring:

Extensive experience as a Mechanical Fitter within LNG, energy or major hazard facilities, with the ability to work across complex mechanical systems.

Strong hands-on capability in mechanical maintenance, fault finding and equipment reliability improvement initiatives.

Trade Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting and Turning, with current Working at Heights, Forklift and EWP licences.

Experience supporting planned maintenance activities, campaigns and shutdowns, with the ability to coordinate work safely and efficiently.

Practical knowledge of maintenance systems and processes, including SAP and Electronic Safe Work Permit Processes (ESWPP).

A strong understanding of safety requirements, risk management practices and the importance of quality maintenance execution.

The ability to build effective working relationships, share technical knowledge and support the development of less experienced team members.

Additional experience in flange management and a Dogging Licence will be considered highly advantageous.
