About the Role:
Curtin is seeking a proactive Data Analyst to support transformative research initiatives and help unlock powerful insights from enterprise data.
Working alongside a Senior Data Analyst and Senior System Analyst, this role will connect, model and transform complex information from multiple systems into trusted reporting that drives smarter decisions, strengthens research outcomes and supports meaningful change for the Research Community at Curtin.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting a program of transformation, across Research at Curtin, including ad hoc reporting, designing data capture and collection, and working to build a new suite of reporting dashboards.
- Design and create reports that support project priorities or area activities.
- Apply appropriate techniques to link, integrate or extract relevant information from data sources.
- Identify relationships, patterns and trends in data.
- Use database management tools to investigate problems, collect performance statistics and create reports.
- Present data in formats (e.g. tabular and graphical formats) appropriate to the audience.
- Draw conclusions or make predictions based on extracted data.
- Maintain datasets and be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of data.
- Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.
Who we are looking for (Selection Criteria):
- A degree in quantitative discipline and relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience collecting, managing, analysing and presenting data using relevant tools and systems, including relational databases, SQL, star schema, fact/dimension design and Power BI, or ability to learn.
- Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic skills as well as accuracy and attention to detail.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, accessible reports for a range of audiences, alongside strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to interpret complex datasets and identify trends.
- Proven ability to organise time and work activities according to priorities and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to translate technical outputs into clear business insights and communicate them effectively through strong stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

Your new Team: – Research Transformations
The Research Transformations team has the goal of empowering researchers with improved Research processes, support, and access to the right data at the right time.
The team work with Corporate and Administrative teams across the university to shape systems and processes that support over 1,000 Curtin Research Projects.
You will be working alongside experienced business, systems and data analysts, on a high profile transformation project.
