Ready to be the calm inside the IT storm?

When emergency management teams are out responding to real-world events, someone needs to ensure the systems supporting them are working seamlessly. That’s where you come in.

As an Applications Support Officer, you’ll provide first-level support across a suite of critical applications—helping users, resolving issues, and keeping operations running smoothly when it matters most.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, listening carefully, and working through problems to find practical solutions. Your work will directly contribute to supporting emergency management and outcomes for the Victorian community.

Key responsibilities

Provide first-level support for emergency management applications, including triaging and resolving incidents and service requests

Monitor and manage incoming requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses

Troubleshoot system and access issues, including user support and password resets

Escalate complex issues where required

Maintain and improve user guides and knowledge resources

Contribute to continuous improvement of support processes and user experience

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Experience working in a similar role within a service desk environment, providing customer facing application support for technology solutions. Note: The role does not provide desktop support.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and client engagement skills.

Experience with IT service management processes – incident, event, problem, change management.

Experience using an industry standard service management tool such as JIRA Service Management/Atlassian product suite (preferred) or ServiceNow.
Relevant industry certifications and qualifications (ITIL/Service Management, MS Azure certifications)

This is a fixed term, part time (0.6FTE) position available until 30 June 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
