Senior Maya Character Animator (Contract)
Remote | Anywhere in the World | Australian Hours
We're seeking a Senior Character Animator for an immediate contract opportunity with a boutique Australian visual effects studio.
This is a hands-on animation role working on high-quality character performance work within a collaborative, artist-focused environment.
Contract Details

Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Minimum 2-3 weeks, with potential extension
Location: Fully remote
Hours: Applicants can be based anywhere globally but must be available to work predominantly within Australian business hours

About the Role
You'll be responsible for creating polished, believable character animation for visual effects projects, working closely with the studio's supervisors and creative team to deliver high-quality shots on a fast-paced production schedule.
Requirements

Extensive professional experience as a Character Animator in VFX, animation, or feature production
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Maya
Strong understanding of body mechanics, weight, timing, acting, and performance
Experience animating realistic and stylised characters
Ability to take direction and respond quickly to creative feedback
Strong shot ownership and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and experience working remotely

Desirable

Experience working in visual effects pipelines
Familiarity with motion capture workflows
Experience working with creature animation
Previous experience collaborating across multiple time zones
