Primary objective
Assist the Manager Mineral Titles in providing a high-quality service to explorers and investors in the application, grant, and
maintenance of mineral and extractive titles across Northern Territory lands, seas, and adjoining Commonwealth waters.
Provide specialist advice to government, senior management, staff, stakeholders, and the public on mining tenure.

Context statement
Mineral Titles is a multi-disciplined administrative group comprising personnel with geographic information system and data
base skills, field personnel with expertise in Aboriginal liaison and culture, exploration and mining industry experience and
general administrative staff across a range of administrative officer levels.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead a small team providing a high-quality service to explorers and investors in the application, grant, and maintenance

of mineral and extractive titles with a key focus on ensuring accuracy in the plotting and mapping of mining titles.
2. Provide specialist advice to stakeholders on the administration of mining tenure matters and support the administration

of mineral and extractive mineral title and regulatory functions.
3. Effectively manage the team through the provision of clear direction, timely management of performance issues and

resources.
4. Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
5. Draft high-level correspondence, procedures, and other documentation; undertake a range of projects; ensure

corporate compliance and the develop and maintain effective reporting and governance systems in all areas of
responsibility.

6. Actively participate as a full member of the Mineral Titles and broader Mining Development team.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed knowledge of and proven experience in spatial and cadastral mapping databases and technologies.
2. Well-developed knowledge of the mining industry in the NT, related land and mining tenure issues and relevant

legislation including the Mineral Titles Act 2010, Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976, and Native Title Act
1993.

3. Sound knowledge of the relationship between Indigenous people, land and resource issues and an understanding of
how to achieve resolution of titles management issues.

4. Proven ability to work collaboratively with and provide specialist, authoritative advice to stakeholders both in person
and through the preparation of quality high-level documentation.

5. Well-developed negotiations skills and ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
6. Proven skills in managing people, projects, change and finances.

Desirable
1. Qualifications in spatial mapping, public administration, law, business management or other relevant discipline.
2. Experience in the mining industry
