About the role
This is a 12-month fixed term, full time position with a strong likelihood to become permanent. Reporting to the Head of Digital Marketing within a high performing digital marketing team, the SEO Specialist leads the operational delivery of the SEO program for Icon Cancer Centre globally with the objective of generating patient enquiries via organic search and the emerging practice of AEO/GEO.
You will be joining the team at an exciting stage in the evolution of Icon’s digital strategy. Over the past 12–18 months, our SEO foundations have been developed in partnership with a high-performing agency, resulting in a strong strategic roadmap ready for in-house execution.
At the same time, Icon Cancer Centre websites globally have recently been rebuilt, or are in the process of launching, on a modern multi-site content management system with much of the technical SEO heavy lifting already complete.
This role is focused on the work that truly moves the needle: optimising on-page content, strengthening local SEO performance, refining internal linking strategies, and identifying opportunities to grow organic visibility and engagement across both patient and doctor audiences.
We are also looking for someone with a genuine interest in the evolving AEO/GEO landscape and how AI-driven search is changing the way people discover healthcare information. Working closely with our Strategic Marketing Content Specialist, you will help shape high-quality, future-focused content that supports patient education, doctor engagement, and long-term organic growth.
The Head of Digital Marketing and Digital Marketing Manager come from a strong SEO background, so you will be given the support, guidance and backing to be successful in this role.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor the SEO/AEO/GEO performance of Icon Cancer Centre globally and develop a roadmap for each website to drive increased traffic, citations and ultimately leads.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to produce content that improves authority, trust, clarity, and answerability across search and AI discovery platforms.
- Stay up to date with the latest research and findings in AEO/GEO and provide recommendations to improve visibility in AI-generated answers, featured snippets, knowledge panels, and zero-click search experiences.
- Provide regular reporting on rankings, organic traffic, AI visibility and citations, click-through rates, engagement, conversions, and content performance while translating these findings into performance reports and recommendations for key stakeholders.
- Regularly benchmark technical performance and work with the broader digital team to improve user experience metrics across our website properties.
About you
We're looking for an intermediate level SEO Specialist with at least 3 years of experience and a content-focused background. An ability to write long form content and work collaboratively with marketing content specialists would be highly desirable.
Attention to detail will be your strength, as will being able to communicate effectively both at an advanced level within the digital marketing team, but also at a level that non-technical marketers understand to foster great collaboration and ensure that your value will be recognised.
You will also have a key interest in working for an organisation that focuses on providing quality patient care.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a dedicated search engine optimisation role
- Understanding of AEO/GEO principles and how search is evolving across AI-powered and answer-based environments.
- Proficient in the use of content management systems with a foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies.
- Proficient in the use of Google Analytics, Google Search Console and/or Data Studio to generate insights and report on performance as well as SEO-specific tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs etc.
- Relevant tertiary or digital marketing qualifications.
