Maintenance Officer / Project Coordinator

Your role

Join Homes NSW and help deliver quality housing outcomes for communities across New South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and motivated professional to build their career in construction, facilities management and project coordination while supporting the maintenance and improvement of a diverse property portfolio.

Based in Parramatta, you'll coordinate maintenance and construction-related activities, working with contractors, service providers and stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone looking to step into an entry-level Project Coordinator position with exposure to facilities management, contractor management and project delivery.

The role involves regular travel throughout regional and remote NSW communities, up to every 2–3 weeks, including occasional travel at short notice.

The role is within Teacher and Police Housing and focuses on delivering a high residential product for key workers across rural, regional and remote NSW.

Teacher and Police Housing sits within the Teacher Housing Authority which is part of Homes NSW.

What you’ll do

As part of the Homes NSW team, you'll support the delivery of maintenance and construction programs that help ensure safe and well-maintained homes for our key worker tenants and the communities they serve.

You will:
Coordinate maintenance and minor construction works from initiation through to completion.
Monitor contractors and service providers to ensure works are completed within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality standards.
Support facilities management activities across a diverse property portfolio.
Build strong relationships with contractors, stakeholders and internal teams to achieve positive project outcomes.
Manage project administration including work orders, reporting, invoices and maintenance records.
Analyse maintenance information and identify opportunities for service improvements.
Ensure work is delivered in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and safety requirements.
Work with other team members to create Purchase Orders and to process invoices related to maintenance and construction works.
Travel across regional and remote NSW to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

You'll join a collaborative team that values customer service, accountability and continuous improvement while delivering critical housing services for teachers and police officers across rural, regional and remote NSW.

What we’re looking for

Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
An interest in developing a career in project coordination, construction, facilities management or property services.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A proactive and customer-focused approach to problem solving.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Willingness to travel regularly throughout regional and remote NSW.

Essential Requirements

Current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver Licence.
Current NSW General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Ability to travel to regional and remote locations at short notice.

Desirable

Trade qualification or hands-on construction experience.
Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction, Facilities Management or a related discipline.
Experience working within maintenance, construction, facilities or property environments.
Current First Aid Certificate.
