Own the architecture. Build the platform. Set the standard everything else is measured against.
About BildGroup
BildGroup is a privately owned Australian construction and infrastructure business operating nationally across civil, major projects, government, urban services, sports, survey and landscape. We are investing heavily in our data and technology capability as part of a deliberate growth strategy - and our Microsoft Fabric data warehouse is central to that. This role is the technical authority behind it and associated systems.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Technical Delivery Lead is the senior hands-on technical authority for BildGroup's data and integration platform. That covers the Microsoft Fabric data warehouse, the full integration estate, and all production environments across these domains. You make and document the architectural, design and security decisions that currently rest with the CIO. You design and build the integrations yourself. And you set the standards that every other developer - including the offshore automation team - builds to and is measured against.
The pipeline ahead is substantial: 50-plus planned integrations connecting systems, including close integration with the major IT transformation program. You are not inheriting a finished platform - you are building the architecture that makes it production-grade, secure and scalable, and then delivering against it.
If you are a senior data and integration engineer who wants genuine platform ownership - not just a contributor role inside someone else's architecture - this is it.
What you will own
The architecture, performance and technical roadmap of the Microsoft Fabric data warehouse - decisions made without escalation to the CIO
Design and build of the 50+ integrations connecting systems
Documentation and enforcement of architecture, data modelling and security design standards across the platform
Technical direction, design review and quality assurance of offshore automation engineers' build work
All production data and integration environments - with a gated dev-to-test-to-production promotion process that removes direct offshore production access
Platform resilience - documentation, cross-skilling and AI/LLM readiness in partnership with the AI Solutions Lead
Management of four offshore development resources
What you bring
You have substantial hands-on experience designing and building enterprise data and integration platforms - ideally on Microsoft Fabric, Azure or a comparable ETL cloud data stack. You have architected and delivered system integrations via APIs, connectors and event-driven patterns, and you have owned production environments with real release management discipline behind them.
You think architecture and security before you build. You document your decisions and their rationale. You are comfortable setting standards and holding others to them - including directing the work of offshore developers. And you are just as effective explaining a security trade-off to the CIO as you are reviewing a data model with a developer.
Hands-on skills in Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, data modelling and API-based integration are essential. Experience with Power Platform, Power BI and AI/LLM data enablement, and familiarity with the construction or infrastructure sector, will strengthen your application. In your previous roles, you have leaned heavily into AI and can add a high degree of AI expertise to your application.
