Our campuses offer tailored programs that integrate wellbeing and education, ensuring young people receive the individualised support they need to thrive. We work closely with families, community organisations, and support services to provide wraparound support that addresses both educational and personal development needs.
Our Young People
Young people come from diverse backgrounds and often face a significant and complex range of educational, social, developmental, environmental, psychological, health, legal barriers to learning which require unique interventions. Our approach is grounded in the Operation By Principles framework, which combines education with an understanding of trauma-informed practices.
We recognise that each young person’s journey is unique. Our staff are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and empowering learning environment where young people can develop confidence, reconnect with education, and work towards their goals.
Our Team
Fitzroy North College is a small, calm and inclusive learning space designed for young people who haven’t felt supported in traditional school settings. Many experience school-related anxiety, neurodivergence or mental health challenges. Staff co-create a predictable, welcoming environment that supports confidence and connection.
The Role
The Program Director - Teaching and Learning VCE, VM and VPC (Senior Stream) provides leadership across teaching, learning and student engagement, working closely with the Campus Principal and school leadership team to deliver high-quality educational outcomes. From 2027, this role will play a key part in establishing Fitzroy North College's inaugural Year 11 VCE VM and VPC programs, creating meaningful senior pathways that support young people to remain engaged in learning and successfully transition into Year 12 and beyond.
This position includes:
- Planning, preparation and delivery of effective onsite learning, teaching and wellbeing programs for young people in secondary education;

Establish the first Year 11 program in 2027, and shape how it grows into Year 12 (VCE VM and VPC in 2027)

Build learning that is practical, applied and connected to real solutions

Lead and support teachers and education support staff to deliver engaging, integrated learning programs in the VCE VM and VPC

Oversee VET, workplace learning and pathway planning to support meaningful student outcomes.

Establish clear and effective processes for assessment, progress tracking and teaching practice.

Contributing to the development and implementation of the school’s objectives and planning;

Model innovative teaching practices in both the best interest of young people and for the benefit of the professional development of the team.
You will be employed on an ongoing basis, with a fixed-term POL 4 and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.
This position is classified as an ongoing Teacher role, with a salary range of $79,589 to $118,063 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience), plus a POL 4 allowance of $13,018 per annum for a fixed term of five years.
We are ideally seeking a candidate who can commence as soon as practicably possible; however, we welcome applications from candidates who are available to commence in January 2027.

Tertiary qualifications in Education
-
3 years’ experience in a similar role ideally with VCE VM and VPC experience

Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration
-
Well-developed understanding of the developmental needs of young people from a disadvantaged or disengaged perspective.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
- Experience and confidence when engaging with parents, and competent in managing complex situations.
- Strong knowledge of and a commitment to best practice delivery of curriculum

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Resilient and able to develop resilience in others with a high level of emotional intelligence.

Demonstrated leadership experience in staff support, development and professional supervision in education within collaborative multidisciplinary team settings. This should include experience in facilitating reflective practice sessions for staff and critical incident debriefs for staff.

Collaborative team player with the ability to build quality working relationships.

A commitment to ongoing professional learning for self and others to enable further development of skills, expertise and teaching capacity.

Ability and willingness to travel to school sites and attend professional development as required.

Strong Interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with a range of people

Experience in supporting young people with disability and/or neurodivergence

The ability to inspire and engage young people with learning activities

Be willing to support young people and our team members to reach their potential
