What you'll be doing

The MRI Coordinator provides specialised administrative coordination for MRI referrals, waitlists and appointments within Medical Imaging at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. The role supports safe, timely and efficient access to MRI services by coordinating booking requirements with radiologists, referring clinical teams, anaesthetic staff, MRI technical staff, other hospital services and patients' families.

The position maintains accurate referral and waiting-list information, confirms that required documentation is available, coordinates examinations requiring general anaesthesia or related procedures, and manages booking changes and enquiries professionally. The role requires a sound working knowledge of MRI procedures, booking requirements and relevant clinical information systems.

Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of MRI and/or CT examinations, medical terminology, booking requirements and patient preparation.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate referrals, waitlists and appointments with clinicians, technical staff, anaesthetic services and other hospital departments.
Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with children, families, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, respond to cancellations and maintain service continuity.
High-level attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate patient, referral, appointment and waiting-list information.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognise issues requiring clinical or management escalation.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of an administrative and multidisciplinary team.
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of or capacity to learn relevant clinical and patient administration systems such as PowerChart and radiology information systems.
