The Opportunity

As a participant in the Gold Fields Vacation Student Program, you will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day operations of a leading mining business. Throughout the Summer, you’ll work alongside experienced technical professionals, developing practical skills and firsthand insight into the gold mining industry.

The program provides a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through your university studies in a real-world setting, while building the technical, professional, and problem-solving capabilities needed for a successful career. Through meaningful project involvement and on-site experience, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of mining operations and the role your discipline plays in delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications

Current driver’s licence (ideally manual license or with desire to obtain it in the future)
In progress of completing your Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Management or similar
Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
Willing and able to work on a fly-in, fly-out roster in remote locations, including 12-hour shifts.

About the Role

Gain broad exposure to environmental activities across Gold Fields' Australian operations, supporting site environment teams with day-to-day compliance, monitoring and reporting work.
Learn real tasks such as field data collection, data entry and quality checks, GIS and drone operations, building your hands-on experience.
Apply university learning in an operational setting while building professional networks and exploring a potential career pathway in the mining industry.
