About the Role
Are you a Qualified Motor Mechanic keen to secure an opportunity to carry out preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and approved modifications in a clean environment to well-maintained CFA appliances?

All tools and equipment are supplied. This role will see you work in our Cranbourne workshop from the hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm, plus work a 9-day fortnight.
CFA critically relies on its fleet of firefighting and specialist appliances in order to meet its service delivery obligations to Victorian communities. The Fleet Maintenance department is part of the Fleet & Protective Equipment team and is responsible for the maintenance, refurbishment and disposal of over 2000 first response appliances and equipment.
District Mechanical Officers (DMO's) carry out mechanical tasks associated with the maintenance and servicing of fleet assets as directed by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) ensuring relevant safety standards and CFA maintenance procedures are adhered to. Additionally, they will participate in the afterhours availability roster for mechanical support.
Your days will see you showcase your skills undertaking the following tasks:
- Under the direction of the workshop OIC, carrying out preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and approved modifications to fleet assets.
- Ensuring fleet assets are maintained in accordance with appropriate industry standards and relevant CFA maintenance procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation on work performed.
- Creation of electronic Work Orders utilising CFA software.
- Liaison with Brigade members regarding proposed work and work performed.
- Maintaining reporting to the Officer-in-Charge on maintenance, administrative and technical matters.
- Ensuring that Industrial Safety Standards are observed.
- Prepare requisitions for materials/parts as required.
- Assist with supervision and on the job training of unqualified staff (eg Apprentices) in conjunction with supervisors/trainers as required
About You
Qualifications to be held and maintained:
- Certificate III Automotive Mechanical Technology, Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence
- a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the following first aid units of competence
- Provide Basic Emergency Life Support; and
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; or
- other nationally recognised courses providing equivalent skills
- WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence (LF) for forklift operations
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate efficient time management skills.
- Proven ability to maintain accurate records including labour hours allocation, materials used, and work performed.
- Possesses advanced, mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills to undert ake specialist troubleshooting and problem solving
- Proven ability to work autonomously.
- Experience in the maintenance of vehicle braking systems, drive line components, engines and body components.
