Premier Data is a rapidly growing sports technology company delivering performance data, match vision, analytics and AI-powered insights to clubs, leagues, coaches and athletes.
Established in Melbourne, our technology supports Australian Rules Football, Football (soccer) and other sports. As we expand our Football product across the United Kingdom, we are seeking an experienced Developer Programmer who combines strong technical capability with a genuine understanding of the UK football market.
About the role
The Developer Programmer will support, maintain and progressively modernise Premier Data’s proprietary coding, validation, video-processing and analytics platforms.
This is a hands-on full-stack development role with a particular focus on the continued development of our Football product and its rollout across the UK.
Working closely with the Technical Lead and our Product, Football, Operations, Sales and Customer Success teams, you will help ensure the platform is reliable, scalable and responsive to the needs of UK clubs, competitions, coaches, analysts and commercial partners.
The role combines software development with cloud infrastructure, system documentation, workflow automation and the practical application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance Premier Data’s existing software platforms.
- Develop secure, scalable and maintainable applications and services.
- Support the continued development and UK rollout of Premier Data’s Football platform.
- Translate UK football market and customer requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Adapt platform functionality to meet UK football terminology, operating requirements and user expectations.
- Support onboarding and technical delivery for UK clubs, competitions and partners.
- Improve match-event capture, data validation, quality assurance and reporting workflows.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs and third-party services.
- Support automated video ingestion, processing, storage and delivery.
- Develop practical AI and machine-learning capabilities for data validation, reporting and football performance analysis.
- Improve platform reliability, monitoring, security, scalability and cloud performance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams and deployment procedures.
- Investigate technical issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Contribute to testing, release management, CI/CD and development standards.
About you
You are an experienced and commercially minded developer who can understand both the technical platform and how customers use it.
You will be comfortable working with established systems while identifying practical opportunities to modernise the technology. You can communicate effectively with developers, football specialists, operational teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Importantly, you will have a strong understanding of the UK football environment and the technology, data and performance-analysis requirements of clubs, coaches and analysts.
Essential experience
- Five or more years of relevant software-development experience.
- Strong C# and .NET development capability.
- Experience with SQL database design, querying and performance optimisation.
- Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
- Experience with React or another modern front-end framework.
- Practical experience with AWS services such as S3, EC2 and Lambda.
- Knowledge of software architecture, testing, source control and deployment practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and technical-documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
AI and data capability
- Python development experience.
- Exposure to machine learning, statistical modelling or data analysis.
- Experience developing, evaluating or deploying AI capabilities.
- Experience integrating AI or large-language-model services into applications.
- Understanding of AI accuracy, privacy, security and governance considerations.
UK football experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working within, or providing technology to, the UK football market.
- An understanding of UK football club, academy, league and competition structures.
- Knowledge of football coaching, performance analysis, match data or video-analysis workflows.
- An understanding of the expectations of UK clubs, coaches, analysts and commercial partners.
- A genuine interest in football and the role technology can play in improving performance and decision-making.
Additional experience that will be highly regarded
- Sports technology, analytics or high-volume SaaS platform experience.
- Video-processing experience using FFmpeg or similar technology.
- Experience modernising legacy or business-critical systems.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation and cloud cost optimisation.
- Knowledge of data-security, privacy and platform-governance requirements.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent practical experience in software engineering, system design and production delivery will also be considered.

Location and working arrangements
The position is based in Melbourne.
Remote arrangements may be considered for an exceptional candidate with strong technical capability and direct experience within the UK football market.
