Your day as an Advisor
As an Advisor in the Health team, you will play an important role in supporting NSW Government policy and budget decision-making for one of the State’s largest and most important service areas.
In this role, you will help develop clear, evidence-based advice on health policy, budget priorities, reform initiatives and emerging risks. You will contribute to analysis that supports the State Budget, Half-Yearly Review and major government decisions, including investment in hospitals, health services and infrastructure.
You will work closely with NSW Health, Treasury colleagues and other government stakeholders to understand key issues, monitor performance, analyse data and provide practical advice that supports better outcomes for the people of NSW.

Achieve success as an Advisor
In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Strong understanding and experience in providing policy, economic and/or fiscal advice, including developing evidence-based recommendations on government priorities, funding proposals, business cases and reform initiatives.
- Ability to undertake financial and data analysis using Excel and financial management systems, including Prime, to monitor budgets, expenditure trends, financial performance, risks and variances.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex policy, economic and financial information clearly and tailor advice for briefings, Cabinet/ERC processes and stakeholder discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across Treasury, NSW Health and other agencies to support policy development, influence outcomes and manage differing stakeholder priorities.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing deadlines, work with ambiguity and deliver quality outcomes in a high-pressure environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, public policy, law, commerce, accounting, statistics or a related discipline are highly regarded.
