JMG Used Cars, part of the award-winning, family-owned Jowett Motor Group, is seeking a motivated Valuer/Buyer cadet to join our team and begin a career in automotive parts.

About the role

The Valuer/ Buyer is responsible for being the primary source for used car vehicle stock for JMG Used Cars. The Buyer is expected to work in conjunction with the sales management team to maximise the mix of stock and purchases for a high turnover and profitable stock mix. Stock is expected to be purchased through a varied network of sources.

The Valuer/ Buyer is expected to be based at the dealership but will also be expected to spend time outside of the business looking for opportunities to purchase vehicles or establish relationships to support the sourcing of stock for the pre-owned sales team. From time to time the Valuer/ Buyer will support the sales department by selling retail motor vehicles onsite. In addition, you will be expected to support the business in other activities when other staff are absent.

We operate a 5-day week Monday to Saturday, with an RDO in lieu of Saturday.

Key responsibilities

Supporting dealership’s customer centric approach to doing business.
Meeting targets to acquire stock for pre-owned sales department.
Ensuring KPI’s around stock profile, revenue and performance are met.
Being accessible and providing prompt and considered responses.
Responding to customer calls/emails and reporting any concerns to management in a timely manner.
Prospecting for opportunities within, and outside of the business.
Ensure customers are following agreed processes.
Ensures ethical and lawful behaviors are always adhered to.
Meeting automotive industry compliance requirements.

Efficiency and Process adherence:

Effective use of the Dealer Appraisal electronic valuation system.
Reporting any process issues with Sales Consultants to Management.
Wholesale – using agreed disposal methods.
Buying vehicles – ensuring good administration and communication with accounts.
Compliance with all relevant laws, including RWC process.
Ensures compliance with the Motor Traders Act.

Current Driver’s License.

Jowett Motor Group was born from the experience and forethought of Tony Jowett in 1995 with brands Audi, Volkswagen and Subaru, before opening Eastern Honda Doncaster in 2000 which remains today. JMG has continued as a family-owned and operated business with its award-winning group of BMW and Honda dealerships across Victoria, South Australia and now the Australian Capital Territory. Fast establishing itself as a key member of the BMW dealership network through a strong customer focused approach and commitment to excellence, JMG acquired South Yarra BMW in 2020. This was followed by the greenfield development of Berwick BMW opening in late 2020 and the recent introduction of Berwick MINI Garage. 2021 marked the opening of Glenelg BMW and MINI Garage in South Australia with a full redevelopment of the Glenelg site underway - due for completion in the second half of 2025. In September 2024, JMG will officially take over all existing business operations in Canberra BMW - including Canberra MINI Garage and Canberra BMW Motorrad. The growth plan for JMG continues with the opening of Chery Doncaster in July 2024 and Chery Brighton in early 2025. The JMG Executive Team is committed to fostering growth and excellence in the automotive retail operations sector. The Group aims to continue to collaborate with current and future Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver award-winning retail experiences for customers while creating job opportunities for the automotive industry and current JMG employees.
