The Artificial Organisation is hiring a part-time Full Stack Product Developer to help build and improve our startup product across frontend, backend, UI, AI workflows, and deployment infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who wants to work close to the product, ship real software, and help shape something exciting from an early stage.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is strong across the stack, but especially good with UI. You should care about how things look, feel, and work, not just whether the code runs. We want a developer who can help turn ideas into polished, useful product features, and who can improve existing systems rather than only building from scratch.
The role will sit close to The Artificial Organisation’s core product work. You’ll be helping with real product development, backend plumbing, frontend implementation, AI-related workflows, and UI polish as part of a small team.
What you’ll do
- Build and improve product features across frontend and backend.
- Help design and refine UI so screens feel clear, modern, and easy to use.
- Work on existing codebases and help make them better.
- Fix bugs, improve flows, and ship practical product improvements.
- Collaborate closely with the founder on product direction and execution.
- Contribute to software that supports The Artificial Organisation.
- Work on AI-related product features and workflows where needed.
- Work with Dockerized environments and container-based development.
- Work with Kubernetes-based deployment or infrastructure where needed.
What we’re looking for
- Strong full-stack development experience.
- Good frontend skills and solid backend skills.
- Strong UI judgment and a real eye for detail.
- Experience working on existing products, not just greenfield builds.
- Comfort translating ideas into real code and polished interfaces.
- Good communication and a practical, hands-on mindset.
- Experience with Docker and containerized development.
- Experience with Kubernetes or working with systems deployed in Kubernetes.
- Practical understanding of AI tools, systems, or integrations.
- Ability to work with modern startup tooling and shipping workflows.[linkedin +1]
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AI is required, not optional. We want someone who is comfortable with modern deployment workflows and can help us build product experiences that are both technically sound and visually polished.
Founding member potential
This is a startup role with room to grow. For the right person, there is potential to become a founding member, with ESOP options on top of pay. We want someone who is excited by the opportunity to help shape something early, contribute meaningfully, and grow with the business.
Portfolio required
Please send your portfolio or website, plus any GitHub links, live products, screenshots, or case studies that show your work.
For each project, please explain:
- What you built.
- What part you personally owned.
- What UI work you did.
- What backend or plumbing work you did.
- Whether Docker, Kubernetes, or AI played a role.
- What the result or improvement was.
We are especially interested in seeing examples that show both:
- UI skill — layout, spacing, hierarchy, usability, polish.
- Backend skill — APIs, data, integration, logic, reliability.
Application questions
Please also answer:
1. What is your strongest area: frontend, backend, UI, or full stack?
2. Which project in your portfolio best shows your UI ability?
3. Which project best shows your backend or plumbing work?
4. Tell us about one product or UI improvement you made that had a real impact.
5. Tell us about one difficult bug or integration issue you solved.
6. What frameworks, languages, and tools do you use most often?
7. Are you comfortable working part-time on an existing codebase?
8. What is your earliest start date?
Video presentation requirement
As part of your application, please also send a short video presentation.
It should be 1 to 2 minutes long and should include:
- Who you are.
- What you do.
- Why you would love to be part of this new and exciting adventure.
- Why this role and this startup specifically appeal to you.
We want this to be simple, honest, and personable. It does not need to be highly produced — just a clear introduction to you, your work, and why you’d be a strong fit for the team.
