Unattainable KPIs in the roadside call centre, unless you are a personal friend of a team manager ie go to their house for dinner and socialise with them, them miraculously you win awards and always surge ahead. I wish members new how badly staff were treated. Racv is put up on a pedestal by the community but the way they treat staff leaves alot to be desired. Too long a toilet break...questioned about it. Too long on a call?? Someone allocated to peer over your shoulder and see what the problem is. Need a day off for something important ? Too bad if 2 others already have the day off. If you go on holidays and there is a day in the middle where there are already the max number of staff on leave, tough....come back for that one day in the middle of your leave. If you are incompetent, can't write an email to save yourself, constantly make mistakes and have no idea what you are doing, as long as you don't have an opinion and kiss butt, you are a shoe in for the management training program. Bullying is rife and nothing is really done to stop it. I have seen people have breakdowns and quit.

Wake up Victoria! Your faithful motoring club abuses its staff on every level!!  

Oh, and a word of advice. If you have a complaint and you are courteous and nice about it, it won't get you anywhere! Drop some bad language and demand to speak to a supervisor... They have to put you through!!!!!  

Worked here and had some health issues which saw me hospital for 6 weeks.
They were made aware of what was happening.  Continuously asked for medical certificates even after drs had rang them to let them know as well. 
No one ever called to see if I was ok in those 6 weeks.
Recieved bullying emails threatening me to come into work or I would be terminated. 
Was even sent mail to say that they will be cancelling my contract if I didn't return to work on a certain date. 
Ended up being pushed into writing a resignation letter whilst I was in hospital. 
High turnover of people. 
I worked most public holidays including Christmas day. Hit targets and had good customer feedback all the time..... this is how they treat a good worker.

a typical day at work would involve, decorating birthday cakes for RACV members, preparing danishes, cookies and chocolates for functions. preparing any mise en place for lunch or dinner plate ups. as well as helping other pastry chefs, for example, weighing ingredients, preparing trays for production, making pastry cream, anglaise etc.
i have learned many skills from working at RACV, including being organized and how to work in a small space, plating up, simple cake decorations, production work, simple chocolate work and setting up buffets to look appealing
the whole environment was very enjoyable for me, everyone that worked there was so friendly and helpful, they were able to answer any questions i had i can honestly say there were no hard parts while working there. i honestly enjoyed the early hours and long hours i was there.

Their office is an "agile" workplace - hot desking with not enough desks to go around. Arriving after 8.30am could mean you sit nowhere near people you need to interact with, and might be hunched over your laptop at a bench somewhere rather than an ergonomic workstation. This makes life difficult for people that have responsibilities like dropping children off on the way to work.  Current management very focussed on individual KPI's - they spruik collaboration but good luck getting anything out of any team that doesn't help them deliver their own major targets. High turnover means it is very difficult to work across the business and have a good working relationship with people.

Unfriendly and disloyal. You do your job, you go home. Staff benefits are huge if you're related to someone and get ft

Answer calls, avoid aggressive, rude staff members and finish asap

asked to overwork because project is behind. No ergonomic desks. No humanistic methodology, there were all threatening and using force against employees for making them overwork.
Not paid for week-end work even after I asked for it.
they look at people like spare parts, do what PM says or throw you away.
No one listens if you cannot work that hard or have a family problem.
Managers bossify people and there is only one speaking and deciding.
No Goodbye, No respect when they want to get rid of you.
No thank you for the time and effort you spent.

Working in the breakdown centre, arranging service calls and tows.
The last 8yrs working in the extra care department arranging extended benefits to members who had broken down in Victoria or any other state, benefits included accommodation, hire vehicles ,towing flights to get the member to their location or back to their home address.
Working in a 24/7 call centre can become hard when you are working over xmas and Easter breaks, plus working a rotating shift mornings, afternoons and weekends can effect your family life

During my employment with rhe RACV, overall the training is good & ongoing, the job is detailed with a lot to know & learn, the company does set targets for the staff & pays according to the level that you are working at!  If you looking for a career driven job, this could be an opportunity for you to grow, however if you are just looking to fill your day to take home a wage this job may be to much pressure for you!

Work involves serving customers.Understanding customer needs and offering products to suit.
I have learned how to use listening skills and recognising sales oppertunities 
 Good raport with any manager that I have worked with as well as my colleagues.
Hardest part of my role is being on the front line,and dealing with irrate customers.
The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to assist and resolve customer needs.

Shifts of 14 hours with no breaks. They went down to 10 hours..
Constantly on the road and pushed by your boss to sell as many batteries as possible even when the existing battery could still work.
Culture is: if you don't sell enough, you are not good.
Most enjoyable part: when you (rarely) don't get calls from members, you can chill in a car park.
