Not the worst place I've worked. Not the best.

Work-life balance is hard when rosters show no consistency and also can be released and updated last minute. 

Management doesn't always display the ability to performance manage the underperforming team members. The retention rate is pretty terrible, in six months in one store I literally saw half the staff either leave or move to a new location.

Regional is an interesting woman who I once saw yank a casual employees ponytail whilst asking her if her hairstyle was work appropriate. Widely disliked by team member across stores and an open joke within the company.

Salary is really only good if you are a casual employee. Otherwise, your salary is set and your overtime is rewarded with time in lieu rather than financial compensation. [management also ask that you follow up on this and therefore don't monitor how much overtime you really do]

The greatest reward is the monthly coffee allowance and that working for Nespresso is a good thing to have on your Cv. To have worked in a premium environment has given me to the opportunity to move onto something better.

Life balance: you will get messages when not at work. 
Salary benefit: You have to check your payslip because there are a plenty of mistakes (always in the underpaid side but surprisingly not in the other way around)
Job security & advancement: Get promoted the friends of the managers.
Management: can panic when it becomes busy and get mean to customers in the backstage sode. (Need more training)
Job culture: You need to know that the company is very cheap even if a huge multinational billionaire. You go through a hard recruitment process? People get hired on phone calls or friends just presented and not passing any interview. Which makes the place becoming a very toxic workplace overall. The good side is the customers.
You will have better life working in a little cafe. And the company will see a decline anyway because of a strong quality concurrence. More friendly to the environment. Etc..

This job has plenty of hours on offer and is a foot in the door to a career in luxury retail. However, I would not recommend being casual there as you get treated like a full timer (expected to work full time hours and especially over busy periods and drive sales) but without any benefits of a full timer (e.g weekends off, paid leave, big free coffee allowances and most of all recognition!). This is why I left and now work in jobs where I can choose my schedule and if I’m exhausted from working Monday - Friday I can take a weekend off. Also highly competitive and value sales $ over actual customer service which is sad and often frustrates customers.

The first thing I would do would be to stock the kitchens with all nespresso coffee and teas. also to ensure that the coffee machines were clean and had water. 
I would then go to the CEO's PA and would get several tasks to complete.
Once completed I would check every stationary in each department and made sure all post were handed out and stationary equipment were tidy and in place. I also made sure that every meeting room were tidy and ready for the next meeting.
After lunch i would stay at reception and answer phone enquiries/ direct phones to the correct department. I would receive parcels and welcome guests- get them to sign in and call the appropriate member of staff.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good hours. Nice staff. Relatively good remuneration. Working independently 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The systems are ridiculous. Way too many reporting sites and more recently none actually work which is extremely embarrassing in front of customers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is very much dependent on the store you are allocated. Luckily for me my store is fantastic. I have worked in stores where the environment is hostile 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Full of anxiety. Constantly trying to get past system problems with what is known as work arounds

Working at Nespresso can be a dream from some people but it must be noted that as a Coffee Specialist working in the stores you will be tasked with a lot of responsibilities that go beyond sales. You will be tasked with customer advice, machine troubleshooting and maintenance, handling customer complaints, arranging delivery orders, serving coffee, maintaining sample machines, memorising company details, memorising all coffee variations, memorising company values. You'll even be tested against a check list of things Nespresso expects you to say in a flow of a transaction, so you have that to memorise too.

Although I find it really hard to actually have a life since I work here, it is a nature of any retail enviroment therefore it is not limited to Nespresso. The team in Sydney is fantastic, better to work with than the teams in New Zealand. Management on a higher level was better in New Zealand as I find the boutiques in Sydney have lower head count which doesn't align with the high expectations and makes the daily life at work rushed and stressful. If they would look into this and change it, it would be a fantastic company to work for.

Going to work at Nespresso was a very enjoyable journey.  The 5 min meeting with staff and manager before we would open the boutique and start working was informative and fun.  Providing the best customer service was my speciality and so rewarding to see my customers happy and satisfied.  It was a joy to see them back again and again. A fabulous team of mixed culture and mixed age made it more fun to work together as professionals. I have grown as a person working in that fabulous environment.

I have worked a million casual jobs and Nespresso treats casuals very poorly. I believe that the management at all levels is disrespectful and I seriously do not recommend working here. You will literally be told you're "just a casual" and you mean nothing to the company and won't be offered any opportunities to advance regardless of work ethic or sales. 


Management is non-existent as it is pathetic, as in my case we had basically kids running the show with obvious results. Proper management is top heavy with absolutely ZERO co-operation with feedback or particular ways to move forward other than direct guidelines which (I worked in a pop-up store) didn't apply to our store.
