DO NOT WORK FOR MENULOG

Reasons why:
1. YOU WORK FOR A ROBOT 
Your boss is literally an AI chat function that offers little to no assistance for any issues you come across, this includes PAY. If you are under/unpaid do not expect it to be rectified any time soon, so you better have another job to cover your expenses in the event this happens (which is a lot). Menulog doesn't even have a person-to-person call line for their couriers - only for their customers; and even then its still outsourced to a Filipino call centre for maximum wage reductions.

2. WAGE THEFT
Menulog will often "forget" to pay you, usually because of some error they will most likely blame you for, such as incorrect bank details or ABN; then when you go to chase this up, it can take an extra week for them to even reply to you, then another week to actually get you paid, and even then its almost always missing earned bonuses you worked for. Menulog AI seems to be conveniently prompt at replying to your messages about purchasing delivery bags and background checks, but is definitely the opposite when it comes to pay. 

3. SCAM PROMOS
By far the most predatory form of scummery this company subjects its drivers to; Menulog will offer promos to their couriers, for example - "deliver 5 deliveries between 4-10pm and receive $20 bonus". In their T&C's for these promos, Menulog outlines they do not have to pay this bonus to you in the same payweek, and also reserves the right to withdraw the promo at any time, even after you've followed through with the deliveries, which they almost always do. More often than not, these promos are on weekends that would be better spent with friends and family. 

4. NO REIMBURSEMENTS  
You are expected to pay for police checks, delivery bags, etc before you start and these expenses aren't reimbursed even after weeks of delivering; considering how minimal the pay is as a courier versus how much the people at the top are making, and the deplorable great myriad of frustrating inconveniences you lose sleep over, this is the very least they could do if they are forcing their drivers to answer to an uncompassionate AI. 

SUMMARY:
This job would suit someone who has hit rock bottom but still doesn't care for the little money they have left. In my opinion, this company needs to be spammed to the Australian Fair Work Ombudsman like pop-up ads for erectile dysfunction pills on your tech-illiterate grandparents computer. 
I would imagine if an economist looked into this company, they would find that if it were not for the endemic wage theft and deplorable conditions they subject their couriers to, Menulog would be running at a loss. The only reason they currently are not, is because their employees (or contractors rather) often are. It is simply unacceptable that a company owned by a publicly listed conglomerate worth billions of dollars can treat their workers like this, workers that are often already marginalised and in poverty just trying to get ahead in life. Avoid this excuse of a company like the plague.

I have been working with them for couple of months, and they used to encourage drivers to place as much availability as they can to get shifts, but eventually now they ended up with no shifts over last two to three months. Apart from this worst, unethical so called professional people working at the support end not trained or educated enough by Menulog management to respond to drivers or to provide any helpful support. When I inquired about more shifts the respond came, "We told you the nothing guaranteed" which they always quoted as half part. 

This never clarified that you won't be able to get any shifts over months. Over phone and then through email, when sent a detailed about issue of not getting shifts or not assigned any more shifts they simply answered they can do nothing about it and your zone is full of courier drivers. 

The deliver partner or service games they have been pulling is: they attract drivers in the beginning with some incentives (which they don't offer anymore, but some of delivery drivers who I met in resturants while waiting for food, they informed that if a new driver signed up with them he/she gets whole week shifts for months and months as we used to had, but they ended up in same way after 2 months). 

If you look up at job posting and advertisment for signing up with them as courier driver which you can  find over every single platform of job advert is just for month. They asked you to invest in them with some dollars which is again expensive compared to other deliveries app for thermal bag. Then, they will offer you a month with job consistency and after that you will ended up reply from them as "they can do nothing about it, and they said not guaranteed work (again never told as such thing), change your availability to less (which they used to encourage, before hiring more drivers, and encourage new drivers to put more availability), try grasp the" Opportunity for open runs (which you can only find in AMs, like early morning or after midnight, hardly one if you get lucky), your zone is full of couriers (yeah if that the case then accomodated those drivers in different zones, rather than hiring new ones in which they respond as "work near home-strategy"... But actually no work) , a big LOL for such company, that is why many driver already signing off with them.

With the incursion of increased couriers on shift at once, and the competitive nature of cheaper prices for equal value, working for Menulog has been a steady sinking ship in terms of income and morale.

When I began, 3 months ago, work was fruitful, and incentives were welcomed with open arms. But over time, these diminished to the point of inconsistency, and zero incentive.

To be real and straightforward with you, you are given 3-5 hour shifts sometime throughout a certain day, and there is no promise of getting jobs one after the other. Rather, you are expected to be ready to drive as soon as you receive a job through your courier app, with a fixed price and no option to decline if you think it's unfair (and they usually are). You are treated like a contractor, (you provide an ABN), but you have no control over how much you charge, and you receive zero benefits from the company (ie, fuel), so eventually you lose money working here.

And to speak on the incentives, there used to be $25 bonuses attached to accepting shifts. Over time, they have decreased to the point of $5 bonuses, or no bonus at all. They argue the case between an 'on-call' and 'regular' shift calls for different incentives, but to emphasise my point earlier, there is no consistency in expecting deliveries - on numerous occasions I have waited in an excess of 1.5 hours for a new delivery job.

To speak anything positive, the support team is pretty good and understanding. They can be reached through the app's chat function on-shift, as well as calling them (and good chances they'll call you if something's awry!) It's easy to get upset with the system, but they at least give you a chance to voice your concerns, let off some steam, and hopefully finish your shift so you can find a new job.

I've worked for menulog as a courier for a few months now and cannot recommend it. At first things were okay, plenty of bonuses and things went smoothly. Over my time I've had a few issues where I drive more than 10KM distance and the app miscalculates and says 1.8KM for example. I get paid very little due to the error. Support is non existent. I emailed them several times about the issue and got outright ignored. The other night their system went down so the courier app failed. I was sitting in my car for half an hour wondering what to do. Should I go home? Is it going to be resolved soon? So I called support and waited 25 minutes on hold before finally confirming their app had an issue. After that, I paused my offers in the app and yet still received orders coming in. It was a stressful night with their app being broken. I emailed them about this too and wanted some compensation for the time wasted sitting around for their benefit. There was no compensation and there wasn't even an apology. I'm still waiting for my underpayment ticket to be answered by support and it's been 5 days since. Unless menu log decides to pay me for the correct distance and offer better support to it's workers, they can go on without me. Overall, you'll find yourself waiting around some nights for a delivery, wasting your time. Then, you might get underpaid. You won't have the help you need either. I've given this company plenty of great feedback and always worked to the best quality possible but they don't care enough about their customers or their workers. If you don't value your time and you're happy to be paid incorrectly occasionally, go ahead and join the menulog courier team.

How does being disrespected every day by 15 year old hospitality workers on power trips sound? How about having to chase up earnings with a different person every time, and 99% of the time being told you used the app wrong and won't be paid? How about having the app, the only interface you have to work with, have inbuilt bugs that ensure you dont do said things properly, or screw up 50% of the time so you'll be in the wrong place when you update your status? How about having different information given to you by every single helpdesk member you speak to, when you do try to get the bottom of the app issues? How about waiting an hour in a restaurant to be told you parked too far away to be reimbursed for your time? How about working for a company that banks on the fact that 90% of it's workforce are foreigners or students who can't afford to complain about terrible working conditions, or simply don't know how to? All of these things sound good to you? Work for menulog!

I have worked for menulog for 3 days now, and they have the worst system set-up ever, very unreliable to work with while doing delivery runs, this is regarding their wrong map destinations, and they cancel your run while you are doing it, which you won't get paid for and you won't get proper help since they take away all the information about that run you do.

Cons:
The restaurant destinations are majority wrong so you have to manually Input the restaurant name to get the right address.

They cancel/transfer your run while undertaking the run, if you aren't close enough to the destination that they have entered into the system, even while at the right one, and mainly while you are travelling to the destination which may be a long distance, and they won't leave the order in your history so you can get help and can't get paid for your delivery run.

They don't have a phone number to call when an issue as occurred so you will get screwed either way. 

Started here in august last year (leaving now), hiring process is relatively straight forward and easy which is good.
For the actual work its got some perks such as that you can choose your own hours (assuming there are open shifts) which is great if you need flexible hours.
The main issues however are that you have to spend around 4-5$ p.h. in maintanence/fuel and you also often have to deal with extended waits on orders at restaurants with little to no remuneration.
Overall assuming there is sufficient work + speed in orders in the area you can make 31$ an hour however this is before costs. (mileage may vary)
It should be understood however that despite the decent pay there is next to no career advancement opportunities (you can't even get a reference) and would suggest this be treated as such.
p.s. Invest in a battery bank/charger as the courier app drains charge quickly

I've worked for menulog for 2 weeks now. Really enjoying it. I have another full time job but we are expecting our first baby soon and I started driving for menulog for some extra money coming in.

I'm really liking it.

The application process was easy. Pay for a background check and a menulog courier bag and away you go. 

The app is brilliant. Very user friendly. You can set your availability and be assigned shifts, or pick the shifts you want to do from the list for each day. And you can do custom shifts if you're "available" and they need an extra driver for a bit.

The pay is decent and more or less commission-based. Paid for your driving distance/time. If you're waiting at a restaurant for an order you will be compensated for that too. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait between orders so switch off your car and read a book or something so you're not wasting fuel.

So I am loving working with menulog and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to earn a bit of extra cash. Set your own hours and make it yours. 

The Menulog system for courier driver is very funny, the earnings in Menulog always changed after their weekly finalising, always found with missing orders, I realised for a few times, talked to the team, they are very perfunctory, just replying that I’ve never have that order, given I didn’t have any evidence, so I can’t do anything. At the last time, I screenshot every order I’ve completed and found again with missing completed order after their finalisation, I raise this issue and provided the evidence to the team and claim, the support team ignores my evidence and keeps saying I’ve never been to the restaurant. If I never been to the restaurant, how can I get the evidence showing that I’ve completed that order. Very horrible company to work for, exploit the transit pay from the employee by changing the system record.

I really enjoyed my few months driving for Menulog, sure a lot of the other drivers whinged and moaned about things but it seemed ok to me, not a career but great extra money.

However, one tiny mistake and you'll be dismissed without any hesitation, as a number of other drivers I knew had been.  

It seems if you were to be working in their head office in Sydney you're actually valued as part of their business, but as a courier you're simply the lowest of the low and get treated as such, even highly educated people get treated like they're doormats.

Good job to try, but make sure you read very carefully their courier contract before you start out otherwise you'll be dropped without any care in the world.
