What is the best part of working at the company?
Being a part of the most intimate and dear moments of people's lives 💟 *the ones that did right by their animals* That was an honour. And that is what was real. You may also meet some incredible human beings whom you serve alongside. To survive in this company your crewmates become your support network, your sounding board and your alley. Lean on them (selectively) and offer your support right back wherever you can. We're all treading water in the same 'pool' after all.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Leadership. 
A complete revamp would be required for any chance of doing right by the community, our animals and the team supporting them. 
Sadly the current powers at be have none of the attributes (care factor) that earns the title of a true leader. 
They have lots of pretty words to front as one, but there is no substance or authenticity behind them. 
They put on a show for each other, but one on one you will see through it. Support will be flaunted in public meetings. You will ask for support and be denied or ignored. 
They will consistently overstep your boundaries and disguise orders 'as a choice' out of manipulation. 
They will blame shift by questioning your intellect and integrity, instead of taking accountability. 
In the service of laying to rest our loved ones, that essence doesn't belong here. The focus needs to be brought back to the 'why'. 
Why we're all here in the first place. 
Not how much $$ you can get from those who are in mourning. 
Not how much you can withdraw from your team in overtime and mistreatment before they burn out.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with grieving Families who made me want to get up everyday to do the best job I could for them. 
I met some wonderful colleagues and learnt so much about the Funeral Industry which I enjoyed. I loved this job though it's time punishing & poor pay. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Mine was the Branch Manager. It was only the 2 of us working in branch.  She micro managed me, spoke to me terribly but in public was super sweet. I ended up at a Psychologist because of the way she was treating me. She is very two faced.  Trying to learn, be productive & do everything correctly around her, in the end, was impossible. 
I stayed the entire Probation until they let me go because I loved the job, my other colleagues at other branches and the families I helped, a few in my local area that I knew (why I was hired).  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Other colleagues were incredibly supportive & wonderful to work with. Invocare is definitely about making money, any business is but I feel sometimes pushy too. I'm so grateful to be out. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meet with grieving families to organise a beautiful funeral for their loved ones. A lot of work goes in to that & being able to work alone confidently is a must, which I enjoyed.

I worked for Invocare for a couple of years. While I learned a lot about an industry that is not very well known and met some wonderful people, I was truly disappointed with the management style of the company. We were recently taken over by a CEO and his associates from the supermarket industry, and they have transformed Invocare into what feels like a supermarket for the deceased. Their focus is solely on sales and profit, with little regard for anything else. It seems their ultimate goal is to maximize profits so they can sell the company in a few years and enrich themselves.

The work culture has become toxic and backstabbing is common. My team and I were seen as mere numbers, easily replaceable. We were even told several times that if we didn't like it, we could just find another job. Despite working with wonderful colleagues, the toxic and disgusting environment left me with no choice but to walk away.

Sometimes I think I have one of the most important positions and the fact that I can assist people at their time of need is very rewarding.

I will call or may be contacted by families who require assistance with their own personal wishes or that of their loved ones.
We talk about the options that are available and select the final resting place.

Sometimes families wish to look at inscription on burial or cremation plaques and this can be done in the office on the same day.

We may have visitors to our Park putting their family tree together.

As with any position I have administrative tasks.

Absolutely loved helping families at their worst times losing their fur babies but copped abuse from some families which was not necessary...management left clients waiting too long for their loved ones to come home so client care Staff copped it all with no management with the balls to stand up and take the blame. I adored my job and so disappointed to no longer be in this industry due to bad management. 

Very polished veneer, and lots of talk of an open and supportive culture but when you are working for them you see that behind the facade it is a dinosaur of a company- too many managers, all wanting to one up each other. 
No consistency from management, constant restructuring and the training department is headed by a person who told us more about her shopping sprees in Hawaii than anything relevant to the business. 
The people on the ground are hard working and mostly a joy to work with, but management makes it untenable.

Early start anywhere from 6.30 to 7.30. Washing the car you'll be using. Reviewing number of jobs and routes you'll be taking around Sydney. Ensuring that you have sourced anything required for the funerals. 
Checking that deceased is in correct casket and is presentable for families.
Sourcing documentation required and ensuring that it is all correct for lodgment at respective cemeteries and crematoriums. 
Checking floral deliveries and liaising with your crew members so we're a coordinated and cohesive group for the day.

Some lovely staff, but the cultural toxicity level is very high. Middle management is to be blamed. There’s no support when you need it. Misuse of equipment. Also take note that once you leave your red flagged in their system not to be hired. You get blamed for other peoples mistakes. Management don’t investigate a problem properly instead they jump the gun and make accusations straight away, then they won’t apologise when they find out the truth. Such a shame as it’s a wonderful job.

Due to the nature of the job, you don't know what you're doing the following day as their runsheets (daysheets) don't come out until 3pm or close to going home time. If you are required to start earlier then the normal time of 730am you don't get given the opportunity to say if you can or can not start earlier. They (Management and coordinators) just assume. Workplace culture is really bad. All starts at the top of the tree. When requesting for certain managers they don't call back and leave you in limbo. Get blamed for other staff errors.

Leaving this place 
Management have no idea what happens outside the office because they constantly fail to  communicate with ground staff

Managements has failed an has unrealistic expectations from an under resourced an under paid staff

At ground level it is fine above that poor
