Prior to my customer service role at Poolwerx, I  worked as a Client Service Officer for the Department of Housing Coffs Harbour in 2019. Working with Family and Community Services as a Client Service Officer, Department of Housing,  this exciting role utilised mys existing exceptional customer service skills gained in previous customer service roles. The role also  provided me  with the opportunity to further my skills in triaging and assessing clients presenting as homeless, victims of Family and Domestic Violence, mental health issues and drug and alcohol dependency.  I have intermediate skills  in the use Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, TRIM, Homes, SAP, as well as other organisational specific software, and the ability to learn new systems in desired tome frames.. The role would often require effective management of aggressive clients, and using my skills in conflict resolution which, when combined with previous experience, organisational policies, and procedures, identified strategies towards effective resolution of potentially difficult situations.

started and was hired to be a pool cleaner, cleaned pools and spas, dosed the chemicals and learnt the proper dosages, how to treat the different issues and maintain the equipment. 
i was moved to a retail position after franchise owner bought the nearby store, did not agree to be moved but had no choice, i was never given real training in retail or how to deal with customers, if i did something wrong i was spoken to loudly, in an unhelpful manner. 
the owner of both stores was very unorganised, he never communicated with the staff properly nor have i been able to contact him as he said i would be since leaving the company. 
the other staff were very friendly and helpful, always willing to help when needed
the hardest part of this role was moving between so many job sites all day, every day. 
i enjoyed the maths for the chemical dosing and actually cleaning the pools was very satisfying.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The owners are amazing people and are very family minded, in summer you are crazy busy and a lot quieter in winter 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Angry customers that want things done there and then on there pool in summer , they get abusive at times 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Small  business great guys that are lovely and very helpful 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Open shop , place money in the till, check stock is full , sweep the floor, answer any calls and serve the customers and advise them on any problems. Follow up on emails, place stock orders as we need , file invoices, follow up on over due accounts, check store and close for the day , count the till .

A typical day at work is answering phones/face to face dealings with the public/regular customers as well as Real Estates in regards to any pool needs or requirements, free advise and demonstrations.
Everyday you learn more than you knew the day before!
Being a seasonal business summer is flat stick, which I love but this is also the hardest part of the job.
The most enjoyable part of the job is my regular customers who come in every week to have a water test and a chin wag as well as the amazing people that I work with as I see them more than my own family (hahaha) so this is important.

No care for safety, getting a raise impossible, just keep your head down, do your best and they will leave you alone, until they want you to make the sun shine.

At the start, I only saw the good, then two months later, my boss only cares for his money. The saying was after the weekend, after the public holiday, after the season, just so he didn't have to talk to you and perhaps you would forget, what you asked for.

You can never have a holiday in summer, spring or autumn, has to be winter. No commission, no incentives, no praise. Hang on there are incentives, but you have to get to the moon first, before they start.

A day on the field would consist of regular maintenancing on customers pools and equipment. Along with pump, filters and chlorinators being installed. I learned how to plumb up a pool. How to test water samples, how to figure out chemical dosages, etc. Management was perfect. You can always get into work knowing everything has been organised and you can just start your day. The hardest part of the job couldn't be named. Like any job you just have days harder than others.
The most enjoyable part would be the freedom of being on the road by yourself all day.

I adored this job. I learnt so much, was allowed to learn and work in every aspect of the company not just tied to one role. Got paid to go down to their head office for training and got certification at the end. Customer base is often beautiful and grateful. Got to spend many days outside in the sunshine.
The workplace was like family, and the extended poolwerx team and all the reps were just genuinely good people.

Expect the unexpected. No day is ever the same. I started my journey not having any knowledge on the Pool servicing industry of the chemical balance and science knowledge required for every day uses. I love communicating and informing clients of the knowledge I have. Ensure they have the best experience and understanding, to take home and implement at home.

They were not clear on the position I would be undertaking until l started the position. The software package being used at the time required you to have a sound accounting background, which was not made clear in their advertisement.  I considered putting myself through a Online accounting course but decided to leave the job instead.
