Decathlon may seem like a great place to work but the management of staff and the behind the scenes expectations and workloads means that there is an unbelievable amount of bottom-kissing and expectations to work a huge amount of extra hours for free (no extra pay for full-timers who work extra hours to cope with the huge workloads), I have never seen such a crazy workplace in my life and would encourage everyone that thinks about working for Decathlon to think twice. I will be quitting this job as soon as I find somewhere else to work at.

The team culture on the floor at Decathlon was incredible, however, as management, the organisation of commercial teams was terrible, leading to delays in promotional and administrative execution- it was then the floor staff that would bear the brunt of the punishment and criticism for the delay despite not having all the required resources.

The good things
Good work life balance and great office facilities. Company has good benefits and flexible work from home arrangements adding to some of the perks of future ways of working.
The challenges
Layers of inefficient processes and business models of working. Many departments at the lower and mid tier have a leadership problem. The high end of Telstra has a very positive vision for the future which was not practised of followed in the lower ranks.

this was my first paying job & they took me on as a casual; honestly, I learnt A LOT about retail like working at the tills & serving customers. Really good pay and manager (and most of the staff) were super nice & welcoming. Obvy very long hours due to the Christmas period... only issue i have is that they overhired & suddenly let me off after only about 4 weeks working there. Overall, it's a fast-paced, fun environment and I rlly recommend working there. 

As a Sales Assistant at Decathlon, my experience has been both rewarding and insightful. Working in a dynamic and customer-centric environment has allowed me to develop excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I enjoyed assisting customers in finding the right sports equipment and gear to enhance their active lifestyles.


- Job is not too difficult
- Good workers and people
- Some of the managers act like they are working in top tier corporate
- Inconsistency with policies and rules (for both staff and customers)
- Management will implement ridiculous new policies with little notice and will not take feedback from those below them

Fast Paced workplace constantly adapting business models and actions. At times can feel chaotic and overwhelming with ever changing priorities however there is always something to do or learn so you're never bored. A lot of different pathway options too if you're looking to continue in 1 company in various fields.

I enjoyef working in Decathlon. Lots of opportunity to grow if you have a good manager. Also the culture is built on sports and activities so if you like them, you will enjoy working fullest.

Really fun place to work. Lots of work socials arranged. The management are supportive and patient and are keen to help everyone develop. You are free to choose your career path and nothing is forced upon you.

Great experience and learnt lots. Great working Culture. Management was great and learning experience was awesome. Fast paced but able to cope. Things there are very easy to learn and pick up.
