BT Financial Group

Wow!  There are so many good reasons to work for BT Financial Group and the Westpac Group.  The only reason I left was because I had to move interstate.  
Having worked there for just over 7 years, I learnt a lot of new skills and completed many different training courses.  I had the ability to move between products and departments and constantly update my skills base.
Working as part of a team, whether is be small or large, was always a positive at BT.  The support that was evident in the teams was strong, a lot of the time you refer to them as your second family.
The hardest part of the job was how often change was occurring within the business.  I found it hard to deal with as you would settle in to one rhythm and then it would be changed again.  I am not against change, but the frequency was a little too often.  Working through the GFC was a challenge as well, but I believe we handled it extremely well and came out on top.
If given the opportunity I would definitely return to BT and/or any part of the Westpac Group.

First of let me say that they are extremely flexible and allow anyone to strike a good work life balance (manager permitting). 

However it is a bit of sweat shop, and if you don't toe the line or drink the cool aid you'll most likely be left to your own devices. Be warned ego-maniacs live here.

Big corporations make it easy for non performers to fly under the radar however this in turn impacts every other hard worker.

This company also has a high diversity quota making career progression limited to young people, women, LGBTi+ and any other anomaly you can think of. 

They have a high offshore outsourcing ratio to permanent Australian staff which over the years has unfortunately meant they have adopted a sub standard benchmark when it comes effectiveness and cooperation of inter-business service levels. But hey, I guess someone at the top thinks its a good idea to save money this way.

During my time at BT I managed and assisted various high level events from conception to reconciliation for different brands under the BT Financial Group banner. Some of which included; Westpac Private Bank; St George Private Bank; Bank of Melbourne and Securitor. Managed all logistics, dealing with stakeholders and clients and keeping within the set budgets. 

I presented event logistics and reports such as budgets, statistics and post event client feedback to high-level stakeholders of the business.  

Finally I maintained and coordinated with external suppliers and sourced new ones if needed

BT Financial Group is one of the biggest wealth management companies in Australia. We employ excellent employees which are well suited for their role. The collaboration and team work is superb, and high performing employees  are well recognised across the business. BT Financial Group invests in their people, which are they key assets. I do enjoy working for BT Financial Group, however, do believe in order to grow and develop myself, I will need to seek and explore new companies.

You will love the friendly, down to earth approach of this team where your contributions are valued. This is a business where people stay for the long term because they are given the opportunity to learn and grow in addition to being recognised as a valued member of their team. Add some laughter and fun along the way and you have the result of enjoying going to work each day.

. Following up  on queries requesting of documents for confirmation. Management always seemed to be in some kind of  meeting and not on the floor being there for their team Some staff are nice, there are the usual office clicks. Difficult when printers crashed staff could not continue with their work.  Enjoyable part, most of the staff you work with. My job is now redundant and is now automated.

Fast-paced agile work environment. Stressful. Communication poor. Difficult to access leadership. Difficult to integrate due to highly agile environment.

Learned so much and I grew a lot in terms of career advancement. The management allows employees to move from one department to another taking more responsibilities and more challenges in their jobs through the secondment program.

You are micromanaged from the second you get to work, to the second you leave. As I worked in customer service, they record your screens whilst on call. 
The managers do not support or back you up. You mess up, it feels like the end of the world. 
They do not care about your wellbeing and they welcome a toxic workspace.

BT Financial Group was a great place to work, great people.  BT gave me a chance to up skill myself.
I worked 4 days in the office and 1 day at home
The hardest part of my job was not being able to provide certain cover to our customers.
The most enjoyable part of my job was communicating the acceptance of cover to the advisors.
