What is the best part of working at the company?
- Very good team in supply chain. They are trying to drive real change within the business. 
-  Plenty of parking at Henderson
- Interesting projects
- Done good people

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
- Demanding clients
- Really poor company culture, particularly in some corporate functions that should be custodians of company culture
- Poor risk management and commercial know how
- Very old facilities

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor. Some functions and people are fantastic but overall, lack of process, poor or non existent communication from CXOs and above, and some people that have been there for a very long term that need to be moved on in order for the company to transform.

A typical day is logon to computer and sit there the whole day running reorder reports and raising purchase orders for both the Cairns & Darwin warehouses. Austal are good at building ships but have a lot to learn about the sustainment side of things, management have been ok, so when asking for help they respond, we are overworked and under resourced but we are making good progress. the hardest part of the job is, there were no processes in place so we are starting from scratch putting together processes. I do enjoy my job for the most part and have learnt  a lot.

You are not pushed by fast-paced business or urgent deadline. This can be seen as good for some, but might be annoying to others. Environment is good; people are not competing each other.

Management needs to set clearer visions for the team. And there is a need to focus on what matters to the organisation.

Pay is not so competitive, but as long as you prove your ability 20-30% rise is achievable.

Company is heavy on tracking hours, with outdated system, which can be seen as waste.

I felt very welcome and felt valued as an contact employee. I would have loved to have continued to work there.

Typical day would consist of procurement services
expediting services and support for other procurement officers.

I learnt more about project procurement and also their procurement procedures and practices. 
I also learnt more about the Pronto program. 

My direct manager that I reported to was great. She was supportive and gave good direction. 

Work culture was a open and friendly atmosphere. It was professional and clean.  

Their was no hard part of the job it was a straightforward position. 

I enjoy the whole procurement process. Working with a great team.

We had a good finance team and worked together to achieve great outcomes 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The supervisor at the time was extremely unprofessional and deceitful when the company was making our department redundant.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
At the time it turned from really friendly to toxic

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very ver busy.  Had to force oneself to take a break.

What is the best part of working at the company?
payday and home time. There was nothing good and certainly no "best part' to working at Austal Ships. I found the purple circle impossible to work with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management too scared to hold staff to account for inappropriate behaviours 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unsafe messy and unprofessional


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
uncertain of what was required for that day

Great job satisfaction , enjoyable work place with top guys and gals working there .
Love the 4 day week !  it gives a great work/home enviroment .
Tools and equipment is well maintained and replaced if broken and that helps a lot so all in all a good place to work as long as you don't get hooked on the ' Micro Managing ' that happens there .

typical day at Austal sucked as my dad came home always stressed and worked up would not recommend for someone with a family

Well that's daughter opinion ..I think it was hard on my family at times..
hardest part of the job was not been supported ,when it counted ..
but however I did learn a lot , I wouldn't know what I know now  about my self ,if I hadn't faced those tuff times.

Can be a good place to work and learn.. Saving money is what they're about at the moment. Hiring lots of apprentices to do tradesman work at  the expense of quality. Safety procedures are ok and better than 4 years ago but still need improvement.

Austal Ships is a great place to work. The staff have the right attitude towards their employees. The best learning and advice. I recommend if you would like an apprenticship this is the place to learn.
