Position Information

Kempsey High School (KHS) is built on the lands of the Dunghutti people and has an enrolment of 530 students including 49% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. It is a comprehensive high school (7-1, engaged in several initiatives to support students from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and for students from low socio-economic status communities. Kempsey High School became a Connected Communities High School in 2021. The school has an ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Economic Advantage) of 854 and a FOEI (Family Occupation and Education Index) of 153.

Kempsey High School supports compassionate, innovative, and dynamic teachers who can work within a team of school staff and community professionals to address the teaching, learning and social and emotional needs of students. KHS has partnered with Real Schools to develop a strong culture built on positive and respectful relationships. There is a focus on building teacher capacity through our Professional Learning Teams (HIPL), which not only embeds a culture of collaboration, but supports the professional growth of all teaching staff to deepen teaching practice for ongoing growth in student progress and achievement.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach secondary library or currently undertaking Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
Demonstrated ability to manage and promote an effective school library that supports teaching and learning, including developing information literacy, research skills, and a reading culture across a diverse student cohort
Capacity to collaborate with teachers to integrate library services into curriculum programs, supporting literacy development and equitable access to resources for students at Kempsey High School
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create an inclusive, engaging library environment and effectively manage resources while building positive relationships with the school community

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
