SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client who runs a well-established automotive service and repair workshop, located in Batemans Bay, NSW.
Providing a wide range of mechanical services for light vehicles, including diagnostics, repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance, the business is committed to delivering reliable workmanship, high-quality customer service and efficient vehicle solutions to the local community and surrounding regions. Position - Motor Mechanic (General)
Location – Batemans Bay, NSW 2536
Salary - $75,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Motor Mechanic who is highly skilled and takes pride in their work. You must be reliable and committed to delivering exceptional service. Key responsibilities include:
· Conduct inspections and diagnostic assessments on light vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults across engine, transmission, steering, braking and suspension systems
· Use diagnostic tools and equipment to interpret fault codes, engine warning indicators and performance issues to accurately determine repair requirements.
· Repair and replace defective mechanical and electrical components including engines, gearboxes, steering mechanisms, braking systems and associated vehicle parts.
· Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on light vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tyre replacement, fluid checks and general mechanical servicing.
· Dismantle and reassemble vehicle components and systems while adhering to manufacturer specifications and workplace safety procedures.
· Test, adjust and tune engines and related mechanical systems to ensure optimal vehicle performance and reliability.
· Conduct road tests and performance evaluations to confirm faults have been rectified and repairs meet operational and safety standards.
· Prepare inspection findings, repair recommendations and service reports detailing work completed and parts required.
· Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and service areas to ensure safe and efficient workshop operations.
· Work collaboratively with workshop staff to maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and customer satisfaction.
· Communicate with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair requirements and maintenance recommendations in a professional manner.
· Ensure all repairs and servicing activities comply with workplace procedures, manufacturer guidelines and relevant roadworthy and safety standards.
· Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe workshop practices, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or agreed equivalent).
· Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) post training experience in a similar role.
· Broad knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and workshop equipment.
· Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, with great time management skills.
· Valid Australian driver’s licence, with the capability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
