We are seeking a results-oriented Warehouse Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive continuous improvement within our warehouse operations. This role is responsible for optimizing warehouse performance through engineering solutions, process standardization, digital transformation, and data-driven decision-making to support operational excellence and Zijin Mining's business objectives.
As a Warehouse Engineer, you will bridge engineering principles with day-to-day warehouse operations by implementing lean methodologies, optimizing workflows, and leading projects that modernize warehouse processes. You will play a key role in transforming traditional warehousing into a safe, efficient, and technology-driven operation that maximizes resource utilization and supports reliable maintenance and production activities.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Design and optimize warehouse layouts by evaluating storage capacity, workflows, and inventory strategies to improve space utilization and operational efficiency.

Analyze warehouse processes to identify bottlenecks, eliminate waste, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and engineering standards.

Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies within warehouse operations.

Support the implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, handheld devices (PDA), RFID, and other digital warehouse technologies.

Promote digital transformation by implementing technologies that improve inventory accuracy, traceability, and operational performance.

Collect, analyze, visualize, and report warehouse operational data to support KPI monitoring and management decision-making.

Manage the selection, installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, racking systems, conveyors, automated storage systems (AS/RS), and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

Develop preventive maintenance plans and operating procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient warehouse equipment performance.

Conduct routine inspections of warehouse facilities, infrastructure, and equipment to identify opportunities for improvements in safety, efficiency, quality, energy consumption, and cost optimization.

Coordinate material availability and warehouse readiness for major shutdowns and maintenance activities.

Communicate maintenance schedule changes and assess their impact on material availability and business operations.

Investigate end-user concerns, perform root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.

Organize and facilitate warehouse optimization meetings, inventory control reviews, and technical improvement workshops.

Monitor project schedules and ensure the timely execution of warehouse optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Prepare technical reports, operational analyses, and performance dashboards to support business planning, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement, while providing analytical and technical support to Warehouse Management as required.
The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, or a related discipline.

Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering, mining, logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain management, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory, team lead, or project coordination role.

Demonstrated experience in warehouse optimization, process improvement, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, RFID, handheld devices (PDA), or other warehouse automation technologies is an asset.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data management, formulas, functions, PivotTables, dashboards, reporting, and data analysis.

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational data and translate findings into practical business improvements.

Excellent planning, project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and perform effectively in a fast-paced mining environment while maintaining a strong commitment to health, safety, and operational excellence.

Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English and speaking knowledge of Sranan Tongo.

Willingness to work at the Rosebel Gold Mines site, primarily in Brokopondo, on a rotational schedule of five (5) consecutive working days (Monday to Friday), followed by two (2) consecutive days off, in accordance with operational requirements.

Based at the Rosebel Gold Mines operation with regular presence in warehouse facilities, workshops, storage yards, and other operational areas.

Works in both office and field environments, requiring frequent site inspections and interaction with maintenance, operations, procurement, and logistics teams.

May be required to work a rotational mine-site schedule and occasionally outside normal working hours to support major shutdowns, maintenance activities, emergency situations, and business-critical projects.

Regular exposure to mining and industrial environments, including dust, noise, heavy mobile equipment, machinery, varying weather conditions, and uneven terrain.

Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment in accordance with safe work practices.

Required to comply with all Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) standards, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Regular use of warehouse management systems (WMS), SAP, handheld devices, engineering software, and Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, reporting, and project management.

Requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, contractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to support warehouse optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Occasional travel between mine facilities or to external vendors, training locations, or project sites may be required.

High level of responsibility for maintaining confidentiality of operational, engineering, inventory, and commercial information.
